BobbyS
What format does the XW-P1 use to save files?
AlenK
The XW-P1 saves files using a lot of different extensions depending on the type of information being saved; see page E-73 in the User's Guide. But I realize that this is not what you asked. The files don't seem to be text files. They do seem to binaries. I suspect that the organization of the data in each type of file (its formatting) is custom.
BobbyS
I guess the easiest way to record would be to a DAW, since that would be the end result. The line out from the XW-P1 to an interface.
Jokeyman123
If you have a laptop with a decent internal soundcard-go straight into the 1/8" input jack if you have one built-in to the laptop. My Motion tablets actually sense if you are connecting a line-in input or a microphone (different impedances) and adjusts accordingly. Even a simple software front-end such as Goldwave, Audacity or similar will record and give you a reasonable 16-bit 44khz .wav file, which can be easily converted to a pretty clear sounding mp3. Lame is a plugin that Goldwave uses for automatically converting .wav files to mp3s, but there are plenty of DAWs that can do the same. Most DAWs save as .wavs as a default, at least in my humble experience. I frequently use the line outputs from my mixers direct into the laptops-giving me alot of eq control and impedance matching-just using the laptop for final mixdown. BobbyS
Thanks JM. I have a 2x2 interface I was going to give a go on. Life got in my way of working with the P1 for a few years and am trying to get back on track now. Basically stating over since I have missing sectors in my hard drive above my shoulders lol.
