sergio
I was playing with the rhythms in the "World" category and I found this particular one (Mus) interesting. Never heard it before but it sounds exotic to me... Anyway, the melody evolved, it's a very simple one, but I like the minor chords. I added some "synth-strings" as a layer on the piano, and I'm learning to adjust the levels, both of the layer and the accompaniment. I hope it doesn't sound too intrusive.
m10538
Sounds good, Serg, 👍!, and the fantasy images look nice on my tv screen (I Chromecast YouTube to my tv). Only one complaint: way too short at 1 and half minutes! I was just getting into the groove and it stopped! What gives?
sergio
Thanks a lot, m10538. It's funny you mentioned the TV... I've watched some of them on my large TV also (USB memory stick) and they look awesome! I specially like the Kayama works that I used in "Flight". Google is amazing in getting these graphics. I like the fantasy-type pictures... Regarding the length, when I'm working on a song I aim to make it at least 1.5 mins, but it depends on the song; some melody lines are longer than others, and it also depends on how I structure the song itself. This one has a fairly short, simple melody line; I repeat it 3 times with a diversion in the middle (which is also short), and adding more would be too much. I like simple. But I agree that often they are short as a result. I'm sure one can stretch the song with proper arrangements, but that's outside my league... Also, this is a hobby for me, and I like creating these songs really for my own pleasure. I don't have commercial ambitions, but it gives me enormous satisfaction to see the songs come to life. I listen to them all the time, and that is my purpose. So I try to present them the best I am able to produce them, so that the song can be appreciated clearly. The rhythm is weird, and it took me a while to get in its "groove"... I hope it works. I'm trying to explore some of the strange rhythms that the keyboard offers... I just can't wait for next Monday to be over!
sslyutov
Hi Sergio, This time I got notification from youtube. This is great music!
sergio
Thanks so much, Sergey! I'm still lost in the "Modes" discussion (I'm trying to learn)... I need sounds to put things in context. I heard Jokeyman's suggestion, and it sounded oriental to me OK, but so what??? They're just notes on a keyboard (our Western version I guess)... I still fail to get the significance of understanding what modes are operating, or even more importantly, HOW to use them, are they tools to use in creating melodies? Anyway... I still like m10538's suggestion of a collaborative video! 👍
sslyutov
I've got a similar impression. It is too good to be so short
standstiladdie
That really is a nice rhythm and composition. Short or not
sergio
Thanks a lot, standstiladdie!!! The rhythm is from my PX-780 Casio, and I thought it was unusual. It took me a while to get into it... Prior to this one I used it in one of my covers, but I wanted to explore it a bit more. I've been posting my stuff in YouTube and Facebook, because I sense that there's a large tech part of the discussion, and I'm not so much focused in that area. My latest video is I hope you like it.

sslyutov
How is your hand?

I can shake hands and do most things, but the body tells you when you're going too far. You can hardly see the scars, really, and I think the surgeon was terrific. I haven't checked the forum for a while, so I have to see how you're advancing... I'm still learning myself and getting a LOT of enjoyment out of my PX-780..
