martinjmv
Hi, I'm having a problem with my Privia Px330 digital piano. After a couple of months without using it, I turned it on today and the volume output is extremely low, both over built in speakers and also through headphones. It's making a kind of distorted, very low sound and I don't know what could be happening. I tried conecting it to my iPad via MIDI and it worked fine. Please, can anyone help me with this? I really love this piano and it has always worked perfectly. Thanks! Juan
Brad Saucier
Are the headphones the same pair you used previously with no issues?
martinjmv
Yes, they worked perfectly before. Now the built-in speakers AND the external headphones are working bad. I tried reseting to factory presets but I don’t know if I did it right. what else could it be?
Brad Saucier
You say it sounds distorted? Can you attach a short clip of that sound? It may be something a reset can't repair.
martinjmv
I just went to record the sound and it was working fine again. It’s very weird, I swear I tried 20 times before and nothing. I just bought a new iPad and connected it to the piano via Midi for the first time. Could that have caused the sudden drop of volume of the piano? I’m worried to plug it to the iPad again as I don’t want to break the piano.
Brad Saucier
The midi connection itself should not have caused it. Did you launch any midi apps on the tablet while it was connected?
martinjmv
Yes, I launched the Playground Sessions app that I use to practice. Do you think that could be the issue? Should I worry about using the app?
Brad Saucier
There is always a possibility with MIDI that a volume change message can be sent to the keyboard. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless it happens again. If the culprit was a volume change message, that can always be fixed.
