cg82
Hi I'm having trouble with the sustain on a CPS-201 I was given. The polarity seems reversed somehow. (When I plug in one of two lower-end pedals I've got, the default position is "sustain on"; depressing the pedal puts it into non-sustain. Very annoying). Can anyone recommend a pedal that actually works with this keyboard? Anyone come across this before? I've tried turning off the machine while depressing the pedal and turning it on with pedal depressed, etc....every combination of that type of fix. Thanks
pianokeyjoe
Casio keyboards use the same as Roland keyboards which is a normally closed switch pedal for sustain. You need to get a pedal that the switch inside is activated normally, then when you press the pedal it OPENS the switch, thus causing the sustain effect to work. The FATAR and other low end pedals are normally OPEN switched and work on YAMAHA and KORG, NOT Casio and Roland.
Chas
@cg82- check the pedal(s) you have for a switch. Most aftermarket sustain pedals have a polarity switch that allows you reverse the action of the pedal. If your pedals are OE for a specific model of keyboard, they likely won't have a polarity switch. If aftermarket, they almost certainly will.
