Jr Fondeur
Can an expression pedal he assigned to a modulation effect or to the knobs for that matter? Can it be use of anything else besides volume?
Brad Saucier
Pedal 2 input when used with an expression pedal can control one of the following parameters; expression, part volume, rhythm volume, master volume, tempo. Knob 3 above the pitch bend wheel is by default modulation. Modulation can also be assigned to knob 1 or 2.

Brad Saucier
Expression is a form of volume control. It is used to reduce the level of sound during a performance, traditionally used with organs.
Joe Muscara
But on organ, it's much more than volume. It changes the character of the sound. https://www.hammondtoday.com/2016/03/21/the-hammond-expression-pedal-eq-properties/ Quote Many people seem to think that the expression pedal on a Hammond is only used to control the volume of the organ, but this is only part of its function, it also acts as a (passive, non-linear) equalizer (EQ). When the volume is low, higher frequencies are much more attenuated (reduced) than lower ones, leading to a much bass-heavy sound and less pronounced highs. The reverse is true when the expression pedal is put to full throttle (loudest volume), which results in a much brighter sound with relatively reduced bass content.
