GreyHawk4749
I have a Casio CTK 1000. The power input pin appears to have broken off and the plug now wiggles and doesn't make good contact consistently causing me to need to tape the power wire to the keyboard to keep the unit on. I have scoured the internet and I have not been able to find a replacement part #. I have good enough soldering skills to make such a repair but I can't figure out where to find a suitable replacement. Would anyone be able to point me in a direction to find either a replacement or the specs on the broken plug? Thanks in advance
Chas
A lot of older Casios use fairly standard barrel style power jack sockets, most commonly PCB mounted. There are a few different types, so ideally open up your CTK1000 and see what it has and how it is mounted. You should then be able to locate a suitable replacement on Ebay or electronic parts specialists such as Mouser. Here's an example listing from a seller showing different sockets available: https://www.ebay.com/itm/175444061841?hash=item28d947ee91:g:SOUAAOSwU15hEnaU&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAsFPFMvF7AJvbDcrgFI2BdUilOVYVSLkgp%2BG9oY1pCtyZwQifOr5jKIMWGpAvDS6dztGkep2ctHPGhHDlW9Or3HIPU67mnVhy9irhizX7bhyQ0M1KWC9ZMSfCvH%2FXv8Ak1cFuVKm%2Be%2FmFynflRoJnYyV%2F5dfnt%2BrsnKoFBMMfF5dgzwidtpxfBMHPF5PaR9sJAQbZVfTE0Aqxt7ZN4F1WIhy%2B4HP4mMCXMGgbprgMwcGH|tkp%3ABk9SR4LW-seFYQ But as said, you'll need to open your Casio and look inside to see what type of socket yours has.,
GreyHawk4749
Thanks Chas. I was looking through Mouser and got overwhelmed pretty quickly by the different types. I assumed that there was a specific sizing that would be required (i.e. OD of the plug and inner pin). Also wasn't 100% sure if there could be different setups for polarity. Although as I look I see that you may be correct that it may be fairly standard at 1.2 mm x 5.5 mm. Was holding out hope that someone had come across this before and could say, "oh yeah that is part #123ABC". Was worth a shot!
CYBERYOGI =CO=Windler
Casio had always PSU plugs with negative center polarity. Never try to use one (e.g. from Yamaha) with positive center, else it may fry the entire electronics. Only in very new keyboards (like SA-46) AFAIK also Casio changed their polarity to positive.
