Sbc Posted January 25 Share Posted January 25 (edited) I am trying to understand this discovery. Maybe a sound engineer could help me out here. When I connect headphones to the PX-S1100, the volume through the phone out is louder than line out (using a 6.35mm L/R mono to 3.5mm stereo). Now that is a given, because phone out goes through an amp. But when I connect my Edifier D12 speaker to the piano, the line out is actually louder than phone out. Not much but I measured; at 3/4 volume on the piano, the difference is 2db. On the speaker, I am using the line in. I also try the aux in (3.5mm) and the result is the same, so it is not the input connectors that are making the difference. Could it be that the speaker is able to detect pre-amped vs powered audio and adjust itself automatically? Shortly after I wrote the above passage, I hooked up an old Philip MC260 mini HiFi to the piano and I got the same result. The difference was around 2db too.
