SmoovJazzy55
I looked for a new members area, so if I missed it, Mod's please move this post. I've been a synth junkie since the first heard The Electic Electric of Bill Hyman as he played a Moog Synthesizer way back many years ago. I was hooked and bought my first synth, a Moog Opus-3. I've owned a slew of them since then, handsome I wish I still had now that I see the prices they are bringing on eBay. Roland Jupiter-6 and Jupiter-8, the original Electro Harmonix Vocoder and so on. I've also had two Casios, a CZ-101 and a CZ-5000. Recently I bought a Yamaha Tyros 5, but it is way too much for what I want to do, plus it is for a performer, of which I am not. Fast forward to today, my gear is a Novation Ultra Nova, Native Instruments - Machine Mk2 and Maschine Studio, Komplete 9 Ultimate, Novation LaunchPAD Mini, LaunchKEY Mini and LaunchKONTROL Mini for using Ableton Live 9. I recently added my twins I call them, a Casio XW-P1 and a WX-G1. Let me say that I'm blown away by some of the sounds of these two synths, and a few of the sounds actually sound better (in my opinion) than those on the Tyros 5 which is a $5000.00 arranger/workstation. My main instrument is a set of Roland V-Drums as I've been drumming for over 20 years, but I still live tweaking the sounds of synths. I look forward to reading what others are doing with their Casio's and learning more too.
Display Name
Welcome and thanks for sharing your Casio story. I use a mix of hardware and software as well, but my Casio PX-5S and XW-G1 form the centerpiece of my studio. Great sounds AND great controllers.
