jamie808perez
Hi I've recently purchased the XW-G1 and I've been trying to figure this out for ages. basically I want to know is after you create something from within the synth e.g. a drum pattern, melody ect.. how do I then export that as a wav file to use within my DAW? also I would like to know how I can record full tracks and live sets from within the synth, Is there any way to take the master output of the synth and send it to my DAW and record it as an audio file? XW-Addict
The G1 isn't capable to create or export wav files, The editor is able to convert wave files to samples in the G1 format and transfer thoseto the keyboard. To send you're performance or step sequences out the keyboard needs to be connecting an L/R jack to 3.5 mini jack cable to theline in of the computer if it has an proper sound-card. Best is to connect an audio interface which is more able for the job to you'recomputer which also needs a different L/R 1.5 jack cable to connect the keyboard to. Full tracks recording can be done using the above description and record each part of you're sequence performance to audio recording to you're DAW that the standard way everyone does it pretty straight forward. (There are instrument definition files *.ins for Sonar andCubase at the download section if you need those). Another way is (which I do for quick recording) using a mobile recorder which can record multi-tracks. Lives sets can be build using the presets as templates one of the many tools are multi-key to change sounds , samples , sequences etc on the fly without interrupting current set. Or import loops from wave files to the editor and convert them to play from a performance , sequence or the looper.
jamie808perez
I thought you would also be able to use the editor to convert G1 samples back to wav but if I can send the master output to my DAW then ill be able to record my samples that way. So alls I have to do is connect the G1 to my audio interface and all sounds I play will be recorded into my DAW (Ableton)? Thanks
jamie808perez
how can I fill my synth with my own sounds? when ever I convert my wave files it only creates ZWT files and only gives me 10 slots to insert them. how can I add to the solo synth section and performance section and so on?? any help will be appreciated. Brad Saucier
Edit the solo synth tone. In the pcm oscillators of the tone, you can select your samples near the end of the wave list. Same goes for drum tones. Save as a user tone.
jamie808perez
sorry I don't really understand your answer, I no how to edit and save sounds that are already in the synth but what I want to no is how I can add my own sounds that I've prepared in my DAW, when I convert them in the editor it only gives me 10 slots. Brad Saucier
Step 1) User Wave Convert wav files into USER WAVE (ZWT) tones using the Casio Data Editor for XW-G1. Step 2) Transfer USER WAVE tones to the XW-G1 user wave slots. Step 4) Edit the user tone. Step 5) Solo synth PCM oscillator>Select User Wave 1-1, 1-2, etc. as the wave. See attached screenshot.
jamie808perez
I really appreciate you trying to help but its still not working for me. I've converted my samples and placed them within the user wave files but when I go to that drop down menu shown in your image my samples don't appear in there and I cant see any option to save samples to the pcm melody or the solo synth sections, what do you mean in step 4 by edit the user tone? sorry to be a nuisance but this is really annoying me now all I want to do is fill my synth with my own samples lol
Brad Saucier
Do exactly what I said. Step 4 and step 5 is in the screenshot I provided.
jamie808perez
Iv'e try'id carefully following your steps but I don't get what your tying to show me with that image my samples don't show up in there and I don't get what would be the point in selecting user wave 1-1, 1-2 ect if they are empty slots?? Brad Saucier
After step 2, the user wave slots won't be empty.
jamie808perez
I've created a short video clip to show what I'm doing, would you mind watching it and telling me what am I doing wrong?? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGKMQZcQvLM&feature=youtu.be
Brad Saucier
At :26 seconds in your video, do as I said in step 5. Select user wave 1-1. Play a note. What do you hear? I'm guessing you are expecting to see your tone name replace "user wave 1-1" in the list. That is not how it works.
jamie808perez
yea I thought the name would have changed lol I now know how to insert samples into the solosynth but still not sure about the PCM melody/drum section? clicking on save as user data only gives me the option to save as a solosynth
Brad Saucier
The tone you choose to edit is the tone type it will save as. To play samples as polyphonic tones, you have to select the user wave tones themselves. PCM tones cannot be used with samples. For drum sets, it's a similar method as solo synth. jamie808perez
so you're saying the 200 empty slots within the PCM melody are all reserved for sounds that you edit and save from within the synth? and as for drum sets are you referring to first import multiple wave forms and saving them that way? Brad Saucier
Yes and yes.
