  1. I just came across this video (in German) from 2014 about the Casio XW-J1 DJ controller. Interestingly, it carried the 'XW' prefix. I had no idea Casio had ever 'made' (better: sold) DJ controllers. This unit is probably just a rebranded Vestax (the video speaks about a 'cooperation'). Probably quite a rare device, since at the end of 2014, Vestax went bankrupt. There are more videos out there, some also in English. I just happened to stumble upon this one.
  2. I've started learning piano with my PX-S1000 using the app SimpyPiano on my Android tablet. For connecting they I've used cable plugged in the USB-B port on PX-S1000 and in the micro-USB port on my tablet. This worked fine for SimplyPiano and also for Chordana for Piano. I've also paired PX-S1000 with the tablet through Bluetooth and played a couple of songs from my tablet in PX-S1000 speakers successfully. But I couldn't use the Android apps over Bluetooth instead of the USB cable. How can I make this work? Thanks.
  3. Hi everybody, I'm new here, and I'm pondering getting a CT-S300 or CT-S400, mainly because of their compactness. I've done some extensive research about those models, but could not figure this out through review/tutorial videos or the manuals: Can you use the CT-S300 or CT-S400 as a midi controller to play into a computer or tablet (DAW, VST(i) host or standalone piano app) and feed the music (the sounds coming from the computer) back into the audio-in? This could give you an awesome, minimalistic mobile setup with just the keyboard and a tablet (or even your smartphone): Playing on the keyboard and having the complete variety of sounds from the app (maybe much better than the included ones) to choose from. Sound quality would clearly be better with an extenal amp/speakers, but that wouldn't be as mobile. The manuals seem to hint into this direction, but I'm not sure I interpret the possibilites of the keyboards correctly. TIA
  4. I’ve spent the evening experimenting with the CT-S1, the WU-BT10 adapter, and some mobile devices. One thing has me stumped right now. As I moved to testing MIDI In from an external device (iPhone, running Zenbeats, sending notes out from its timeline to CT-S1), it seems the CT-S1 only plays the default Stage Piano tone. Even if I change the Tone on the CT, the notes are still the piano (but live play on keys is the selected Tone). I’ve checked through the User Manual and MIDI spec, but it doesn’t say much about MIDI In, just Out. Before I spend hours on this: does anyone know if this is behavior as designed? Would I somehow need to execute a Program Change to get the notes to play a different Tone? Is there a comparable limit or method on other current Casio keyboards? I know not many of us yet have the CT-S1, but any advice is appreciated. TIA!
  5. Hi Folks, We replaced our Yamaha PSR-E463 with the CTX-5000 and really appreciate these speakers! The CTX-5000 User Manual refers to being able to "send MIDI data from your computer to the Digital Keyboard for playback (EN-124)". I cannot figure how to do that after spending quite some time researching. Now, this may be a Logic Pro issue, but I thought I would ask here. When the Yamaha is connected, I can choose it as the output device (Logic Pro -> Preferences -> Audio -> Output Device) but the CTX-5000 is connected this is not an option. We can send play data from the CTX-5000 to Logic Pro without issue via our USB cable. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and thank you! Bradley
  6. My MZ-X500 does send Midi Program Change data while I´m changing Registration. How do I deactivate this? I´d like to send Midi Key On Off and CC-Messages, because I want to use the MZs keybed to play sound on my ipad. So I need the Midi Out Signal. - Parallel to that I want to use the MZ as stand-alone Keyboard for several Sounds and as BackUp-system, if something in my external Midi-Setup chrashes.
  7. Hi I have a modified version of a preset performance, that I want work on further in my DAW From the performance I have made a (sequence) chain that triggers one phrase from the sequencer control track. Another phrase is triggered with phrase play/stop button. I was able to transfer the chain (with the first phrase)!as a MIDI file to the DAW. But I also need the other phrase as well. When I try to record the said phrase into the DAW, the phrase is rendered/recorded incorrectly in comparison with the original one why is that happening? any help is appreciated, thanks 😊 Jay 🎹
  8. In case anyone is interested, I uploaded a Reaper DAW patch script in the Downloads page (Downloads-->Other Casio Products-->Casio CT-S1 Patch Script for Reaper DAW). I couldn't find a CT-S1 section in the Download page, so I thought I'd post it here too since it is somewhat hidden.
  9. Wow, that is a long title. 😬 What I mean by it, is that I want to know, whether I can set up one of the knobs, via the stage setting, on the PX-5S, to dynamically alter the program number, that is sent out in a program change message to an external instrument? I have already learned at a stage setting can send a one program change message, when that stage setting is selected. I just want to ad the functionality, for the user, to change the value in that program change message with a knob turn, instead of having to go in to the menus. I wonder if it is done by sending a RPN or NRPN? Jay🎹

As described in this comment: Here is a stage setting for the PX-5S that will send one program change message to the CT-S1 - provided they connected via midi - for it to sound the 1st tone in the Synth category of its tone bank. That tone is called Synth-Brass, hence the name of the stage setting. Moreover, you will have control over: filter cut-off [Slider 1] filter resonance [Slider 2] attack time [Slider 3] chorus [Slider 4] delay [Slider 5] reverb [Slider 6] of the CT-S1 and use pitch bender use modulation wheel all triggered by the PX-5S. For the stage setting to send the program change message you may have to press [Bank] and the stage setting-number you saved it under. For instance, if you saved it under Bank 0-0, you would press [Bank] and [0] [0]. By design, sound generation on the PX-5S is turned off in this stage setting. Likewise, the target (1 & 2) of Knobs 1-4 is not assigned. Here is an example of the stage setting in use. All music is played on the PX-5S, even though it is the CT-S1 you hear. I used some of the sliders on the PX-5S to slightly alter the sound from the CT-S1: Jay🎹

  12. My wife sits at the px350, I have a Midiplus x3 MIDI keyboard plugged into the MIDI IN port of the px350. We jam. I would like to be able to change the tones that I play. Using controls on the x3 I send Bank select MSB/LSB and Program change data (from the Tone List in the manual) but it has no effect. I only get the grand piano sound. When I change the MIDI channel to 2 and 3 and 10 I get a strings sound, a bass sound and the percussion assortment respectively. Has anybody tried this? I'd love to be able to change instruments from the attached keyboard - for live playing. P.S. No usb stick plugged in - noticed this was mentioned by Jokeyman123 earlier. Thanks!
  13. Hi folks, I have invested in a PS-X3000 and am really enjoying the sounds and the playing experience. Now I want to integrate this instrument into a live setup with other midi hardware and soft-synths, so I really need remote selection of sounds via standard MIDI (i.e.using Bank Select and Program Change messages). Basically I want to play the keyboard in 'local' mode where the instrument keyboard plays the onboard sounds, AND I want to select those onboard sounds by receiving midi messages from my midi patch manager (mididings, Bitwig or similar) running on my MAC (over USB Midi). When I try this the main 'local' voice and the display don't change, however the program change IS effective for incoming midi notes, so I know the messages are getting through. So I can send PC and MIDI notes to the sound engine, but I can't alter the local setting via MIDI?? This doesn't seem right - I must be missing something! BTW It'd be really helpful to see some high-level description of the instruments MIDI architecture and how this relates to the onboard sound engine. I'm sure it exists somewhere?
  14. Hello all. I use my synthesizers (Casio PX-S3000 and a Yamaha MO6) primarily to play along with recorded music. I wanted a way to: (1) Easily browse through the voices provided by the synths, and organize them into arbitrary named groups of "favorites". The Casio touch interface in my opinion is slick but just too slow to choose voices (and there are SOOOOO MANY), and the registrations are only somewhat helpful. Some external controllers can probably be used for this, but again, klunky. And as implied in another post, it appears that some external controllers cannot do program changes (Keystep 37, maybe?). Now a caveat: Using MIDI to pick voices on the Casio requires an external MIDI controller to play those voices, though there may be workarounds. The Yamaha, and most synths, I'm guessing, are not like this. (2) Easily apply fine tuning changes, since not all music is recorded (or produced, whatever) using A=440. If you ask me, the second knob put on a synth should be fine tune (first is volume) but it's generally not there. Again, it's too slow to dive through the menus to fine tune for a song. Also, again, some external MIDI controllers could likely be setup to do this, but again, klunky. Same caveat as above. I wrote a couple little software programs (embarrassing screen shots attached) to quickly and easily help do these things on multiple target synths, and also employed a couple freely available on the internet (MIDI-OX and loopMIDI). If there is any interest, I could write up how I did (1) and (2), and maybe in the process start a thread detailing how to use MIDI to control the Casio, since there seem to be a few questions regarding this. It wasn't easy for me, and maybe it could help someone. I'd also be willing to incorporate changes into my programs if anyone is willing to try them and offer ideas. They are beta quality -- ugly and unpolished! I am also starting a gig/setlist software allowing easy synth program changes in a gig setting, since the free stuff I've found is awful (when it works at all). I'm not sure how generally useful a write up or software might be, so should I write it up?
  15. Bought the PX-S3000 almost a year ago. Still love it, still sounds Great! I just bought a midi host interface so i can control my PX-S3000 with the new Keystep 37 i just got. The keystep controls it fine. Prefect no latency or anything. Only issue is that i can only control the piano sound through the midi from the keystep. If i change the sound on the PXS the keystep is still only controlling the piano sound. the sound will be changed on the Casio's keyboard but not through Midi. Any one have this issue before or know a solution? i have looked around in the manual and on google but i can't seem to find anything. Please help!! one of the main reasons i got the Keystep was to control all the sounds on PXS and use the arp, chord, and sequence features on the keystep.
  16. Hey I'm wondering if there's anyway to set a default function so when I turn on my LK-170 it automatically has Local function turned off, I plan to just use this keyboard for midi and its annoying having to turn off local every time I turn it on. Is there anyway to turn local off and keep it off for good?
  17. I can't get the px350 to change to a different tone sent from an iPad app called BandHelper or others may use one similar called SetlistMaker. What I want to do seems very simple and others in my band have used the same ipad app to control other instruments. All it needs to do is change the voice. Setup:iRig MIDI 2 Channel - I have tried it with both channel 1 and channel 2. In both cases the keyboard was set to the same channel for the tests.Numbering - tried both settings, 0-127 and 1-128 with no effect.MSB - 49LSB - 0. In the Casio forum someone posted to not send LSB. I have tried both 0 and no values, neither had an effect. For that matter I don't even see LSD settings in the Casio documentation.Program - 61I see a message gets sent from BH to the MIDI interface out port which I have confirmed is plugged into the MIDI in port on the keyboard. Tried 2 different MIDI cables, both of which were verified are working on another app. in another thread it was found that the MIDI local control needs to be set to off. When I try that I get no sound from the keyboard.
  18. Hi all. I've been searching for the best keyboard that suits my needs. According to the the price and features it seems that the CT-X800 is the best option available for me. However, Im going to use it as a MIDI controller on Reaper (PC) besides of a regular keyboard, and this is the most important feature I need. I hardly found little info about this usage for this keyboard, and I want to make sure that it works right. I read something like "not all the 61 keys are functional for MIDI, only a third part of the keybed is functional for this", and now I have mixed feelings. I do need to make sure that I will be able to record MIDI playing the 61 keys as if I were just playing with the keyboard speakers. I appreciate your comments on this. Excuse my not perfect english.
  19. Hello, New on this forum. A few years back I bought the Casio Privia Px160, and I'm stunned by its quality. Much better than the Roland or Yamaha in that price range. I recently bought also a Yamaha reface CP. Now since the PX 160 only has USB Midi , is there a way to connect the PX160 to the Reface CP (which has DIN Midi), and use the Casio as a Master/Controller to play the Reface sounds on the Casio. If not, is there a solution? Appreciate the help.
  20. Hello... I hope this is in the right forum... I want to play midi files with the Casio CT-X5000 and play along with the midi file... Does anyone here know where I can download the best and preferably free midi files for the Casio CT-X5000... And which midi files should I actually have for the keyboard.? I have already downloaded midi files on various sites, but they do not all sound equally good... So which midi files should I have GM, XG or XMf or other midi files... So which files midi files sound good on the Casio CT-X5000 and where can I best download them.? Mvg... Albert...
  21. Hey everyone, I'm having some MIDI issues with the CDP-130. I am trying to send MIDI information from Ableton Live into the CDP-130. I have the keyboard set on the "strings" setting, however the "Grand Piano" sound is what is recorded in Ableton. The MIDI notes are reaching the keyboard properly, but the wrong sound is coming out. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Thanks for any and all help,
  22. My Casio PX-780M periodically stops working over the USB MIDI connection to GarageBand running on a Mac Mini, and I have to reboot the keyboard to get it to reconnect. How can I keep it from disconnecting?
  23. Hello everyone, i have searched everywhere for my problem and ended up finding this forum. i have old CTK-651 keyboard. i want to make youtube videos. so i need to connect my keyboard and computer to generate midi file. I have tried one of the midi to usb cable from amazon https://www.amazon.in/VicTsing-Cable-Converter-Keyboard-Adapter/dp/B00ACGMOA6/ref=sr_1_10?dchild=1&keywords=midi+to+usb+cable&qid=1597988599&sr=8-10 but this did not work properly. some of the notes were not playing in computer. i have tried to connect this on midieditor, see music and synthesia app(On PC). I returned this product. Now i want to know whether cable of roland will work on casio keyboard ? like checkout this cable available on amazon https://www.amazon.in/Roland-UM-ONE-MK2-MIDI-Interface/dp/B00967UN50 if anyone of you has other option available in india, kindly let me know. or should i buy new casio keyboard ?
  24. I have created a MIDI file using Musescore notation software and am attempting to store it in the user area on a CTK 3500. I have successfully installed Chordana Play on my Android phone and stored the MIDI file on the phone. I can connect the phone to the CTK 3500, enter APP Mode, and play the file through the CTK speakers. However, when I attempt to Transfer the file to the CTK storage it does not work. I click on Transfer Song on the Chordana app and get a dialog box saying make sure the keyboard is in APP Mode and click OK. When I click OK nothing happens. While experimenting with possible solutions, I attempted to store one of the built in songs in the Chordana App, and when I clicked OK, I got another dialog box with additional options (which I don't recall at this time). So I am suspecting that there is some sort of formatting difference between Musescore MIDI structure and what Chordana is expecting. Has anyone else had this issue? If so have you found a work around? Thanks
  25. Please helpe guys, i want to connect my Casio ctx 9000 with my android phone as a midi keyboard to work on fl mobile. please provide me steps to connect it as midi. Thank you
