  1. So I suppose that the MZ-X 500 doesn't work with an external master clock, because it is based on similar hardware of the 560. I suppose that being a master or slave clock for these synths could be useful, because they have a multitrack sequencer built in. Having also a MIDI-DIN connection it's easy to connect another synth even in an home environment.
  2. I think you should look also on Linux and its audio ecosystem. Namely the Zynthian project. I think that is the next thing I'll go to buy in case of a GAS syndrome. Besidex X86 ages better than Android gear, even with Windows. When I bought the PC I'm wrinting now, was when I still used a Nokia cellphone with Symbian and both Debian and Windows partitions are up to date .
  3. It's not like the Adidash brand 🙂 https://www.gigole-store.com/en/prodotto/ENERGIE-/14489/?c=229 https://store.kitchenrebel.com/products/adihash-mens-short-sleeve-t-shirt On the other hand I have seen "CASION" watches, in the case of watches the lower quality was apparent: they normally used an LCD movement common to other low end watches, with only 4 digits. On the other hand I've seen calculators that are looking exactly like this https://www.casio-intl.com/asia/en/calc/products/SL-760LC-BK/ but don't have the Casio branding, instead they have a store brand, and have different fonts and colours used. Maybe they were done by Casio and rebranded or someone made them exactly like the original, getting ICs and LCD from suppliers. I have bought some stuff sold on that store brand, and is of decent quality. PS:for some food it's easy to find that are made in the same shop. See the store brand and the manufacturer brand. I can assure you that they look and taste the same 🙂
  4. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g24z3_og_zY Originally the name was Magical Sound Shower Back in topic, given the cost of the original Casio keyboard, what is the target market? I think it's a rip off for grandpas that will like to make a gift, and for the kid that gets a bad toy. These ultra cheap keyboards are normally found in open air markets and in some toy shops. I've seen these keyboard near more sesible instruments like these mechanical toy piano. https://schoenhut.com/collections/baby-grand-pianos/products/18-key-mini-grand
  5. https://www.casio-intl.com/asia/en/emi/products/xwg1/ I use this as a drum machine. Unfortunately is not made anymore and is the typical Casio fashion they added a keyboard and a VA monosynth 😁 If you have a personal computer to use with, you could try http://hydrogen-music.org/downloads Nice software sample based drum machine. But there are a lot of them...
  6. Il live in an 1800s attic. I can distinctly hear downstairs neighbours nagging their kids because they don't make their homework at 10 pm 🙂
  7. The question is what the market is asking for? People is looking back to sounds of the 70s and the 80s. On the other hand the market for low end keyboards where Yamaha and Casio make a lot of model is interesting for other makers.
  8. You were able to sightread before, so it's a latent skill you've. So you can actually memorize the piece only reading it. A lot of people that have studied at a conservarory can solfege. Unfortunately solfege is normally taught at the most boring thing in the world, and not using actual sheet music but made up notes.
  9. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYOe8PzaeNg Because even the pro sometimes have to readfrom a score, even when paying a €100000 concert grand 🙂 The fact they put a blue strip on the rest slot is the most puzzling thigon the px-5s, even costwise does not make sense.
  10. The funny thing is that the mold of the upper cover has provision to have a music rest, but there's the blue strip blocking it.
  11. One of the 45 of my childhood was this Italian cover by Piero Umiliani. Still have the vynil somewhere. Besides I think that at the time all the musician played toegheter in the same studio and they got directly the stereo mix on 2-track or 4-track. If you listen to the original song you'll notice that sometimes they haven't a stedy tempo, like all live music played without a click or a metronome.
  12. Another reason is that higher octave strings are short, so their diameter to lenght ratio is lower thah middle strings. So their harmonic content stars to have more harmonics at odd ratios, so to make them to sound better with lower octaves they have to be stretched.
  13. Inside Radio DEEJAY studios an SK mini keyboard. Cringe.
  14. Maybe it's simply a loose connector between the sliders board and the DSP board. Not all the sockets in the PX-5S have a retention tab, so moving the piano could cause the pull out a bit and generate false contacts.
  15. Could you use a small stereo mixer, like this: https://artproaudio.com/product/powermix-iii-three-channel-personal-stereo-mixer/ https://www.electroschematics.com/3-channel-audio-mixer/ ?
  16. I agree 100% with @Jokeyman123 try before you buy. We can't guess the action you will like most and the features you need, and what is your budget. Besides even other brands of digital pianos could develop noisy keyboards over time, search Yamaha, Roland and Kawai forums. I have to disagree a bit with Mike: the only difference is that the PX-5S is a synthesiser disguised as a stage piano. Like the Yamaha MX, MODX, MOXF, or MONTAGE or the Roland Juno, FA or Fantom the strong point is to create new patches and sounds instead to recreate a full piano experience.
  17. It depends a lot of underlying architecture of the system. If a synth is designed from the start to have the firmware upgradeable, it could be made as an easy and error-free operation. Basically, the system should have a first stage bootloader in a separate and read only memory that could also rewrite the second stage, and failing that, or if detect a key combination on boot, go in a system reload mode. To speak about other manufacturers, the Kawai K5000 has this architecture, and if the upgrade fails, it's easy to recover. On the other hand the same era k9500 is upgradeable only sending a midi file full of sysex and hoping for the best. Different architecture different results. But even if the firmware update is feasible, building the actual software isn't an easy task, and requires resources, and the costs involved have to be balanced on developing a new product.
  18. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Stereo-Female-Splitter-Adapter-Converter-20-CM/dp/B071KN9QH5/ref=pd_sbs_23_img_1/257-0403492-2799864?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B071KN9QH5&pd_rd_r=9d362cb9-ba84-437d-920c-5e165953a3e2&pd_rd_w=cOUkM&pd_rd_wg=r00R3&pf_rd_p=e44592b5-e56d-44c2-a4f9-dbdc09b29395&pf_rd_r=V6ZT8SSP5V82AB77P8R1&psc=1&refRID=V6ZT8SSP5V82AB77P8R1 need one of these stereo 1/8" female jack to dual 1/4" male jack. I suppose these speakers are powered, in this case they'll work.
  19. Absolutely agree. The experience as a piano leaner is try the brain to talk with both hands, at a basic level. The most important thing is to have a good teacher that could help you to find exercises good for you and help to correct mistakes. About the instrument to buy, go in a decent music store and try them before buy. Any entry level will do, or in a shop you maybe find used/refurbished ones.
  20. Because nobody is interested in a knockoff px-160 or px-560 but is interested in a cheap digital piano. There are a lot of of the shelf components that could be used for this, like the ones of the Dream multimedia https://www.dream.fr/devices.html or the ones made by other manufacturers. About FM synthesizers, there is an open source VST, and genuine NOS Yamaha chips are easily available. The only fake Casio (or Casion, sometimes) were some cheap watches sold by some shay guy in open air markets. Besides they were really cheap, because you can buy a Casio watch in a jewellery for 30 € and Casio keyboards are cheap too...
  21. The MIDI option is a 1100 € customization. https://www.verdestrumentimusicali.com/fisarmoniche/bottoni/installazione-midi.html A top of the line customizable (meaning that ofe a pric level the accordion are made in colours and finishings selected by the client. ) accordion will go over 13000€ https://www.verdestrumentimusicali.com/fisarmoniche/bottoni/leader-iv-special.html
  22. These looks the melody buttons, besides this is quite strange because there aren't present the bass buttons and without the bellows. Next the CZ-101 is too serious for the average accordionist, and you can see... Do you know anyone that has bought a white and blue instruments 🙂 Verde is a music shop and a maker of accordions, they can customize them for the clients, and they are also Casio dealers. And they could build accordions with a Midi out and silent mode.
  23. For the first part it could be simply that a lot of kids got them found that piano is hard so they left to collect dust somewhere. Being a base model aimed at beginners it could be a reason. For the missing power supply, it's possible that in some markets the keyboard is sold without it an these are parallel import keyboards? The power supply is multivoltage, so to use an European version in an US socket means to use a screwdriver a pair of scissor and a spare plug, like I do when I buy some appliance from abroad.
  24. I absolutely agree on this. I still don't understand why Casio didn't put MIDI-DIN ports on the PX-S3000.
  25. My two cents too: PX-5S and PX-560 have good old Midi-DIN connectors. PX-S3000 not, neither have Midi-bluetooth. This is a problem if one want to use an expander, add an external controller or have a MIDI-sync between two keyboards, not if one only needs a piano sound and rhythms and styles. The polyphony is relative, because 5S and 560 have hex layers, so you can end up to use 12 or 14 notes on a single key. I have to try the PX-S3000 but havin tried the other two, the 560 seems to me more useful in piano bar scenarios with only one musician and maybe a small room. THe PX-5S is more for groups or more EDM or experimental scenarios, it's less plug and play than the 560 and some features are well hidden in some submenus, and this is a bit of problem.
