  1. It sounds like the MIDI file you're playing might have some control change messages that are are silencing a part or multiple parts, like volume or expression, and stopping playback in the middle would cause the sound to stay at a low volume until something reset it, like powering off.
  2. Most MIDI files are embedded with patch change messages that are controlling what tones are selected in whatever device the file is playing back on, the MZX in your case. You'll need to remove the embedded data, or load the file into the MZX MIDI recorder and use the event editor, or header data overwrite to edit the patch change data in the file.
  3. Casio generally makes new product announcements twice a year. The next one isn't until January 2021. Nothing is known before that time. Once a new product is announced, (in the US) it takes a couple of months to become available and ship to customers. At best, you're looking at spring 2021 before you could get your hands on anything new, if what you wanted was announced in January. It could be a very long wait.
  4. Hi Steve. Can you be a little more specific? What are you referring to when you say user preset?
  5. In one way, the PX-S3000 is a more advanced MIDI controller than many other keyboards, because it has high resolution velocity. Have you tried turning off high resolution velocity output in the S3000 MIDI settings? That can cause issues with software that has not implemented the new standard yet. We have a YouTuber on the Facebook group that posts videos at least once a week using his S3000 as a controller for VST instruments as his sound source. I've seen a number of people do the same with their S3000. It's apparent the S3000 works great as a MIDI controller. I'm curious to see what's causing your issues John.
  6. It's a compressed file. You'll need to extract the file contents on your computer first. That can sometimes be done by right clicking on the file and selecting extract from the menu.
  7. I'll say this. I bought one of the same no-name cables many many years ago. It gave me the same issues. I replaced it with a brand name cable and never had issues. In addition, we've had countless people come to this forum with those same no-name cables, and had the same issues. In all likelihood, the cable is the issue.
  8. I don't know the answers to those questions. I'm sorry. If the files are not on this site, I'm not sure where to look, or what to look for.
  9. I'm not sure why it would be ignoring patch change data. Have you double checked your configuration? Casio even provides patch scripts for several DAWs to use with the PX-S3000. https://support.casio.com/en/support/download.php?cid=008&pid=2368
  10. Here are my observations. Moving slider 1 on stage setting 7-2 "KeyUp ReedS3" increases distortion and maintains similar loudness, mainly at each end of slider travel. If the slider stops in the middle of travel, it might be a little bit louder, but it shouldn't he significantly louder. I'm not sure why that would be happening in your setup. The slider is offsetting DSP output level in order to compensate for the increased gain that drives the distortion effect. You'll see the display show gain and level changing as you move the slider.
  11. In that case, I can explain. As the name suggests, a registration memory bank file is a bank of registrations, rather than a single registration. All of the registrations in a bank, like bank 1, will be stored as a single file and will be installed whenever that file is loaded into memory.
  12. I'm not sure why that would have happened to bank 2, if the registration bank file you downloaded was installed in bank 1. Were the tones saved in bank 2-8 preset tones? Mike Martin created the organ pack. It's designed to install as an assembly of pieces. The registration bank file and tone files are intended to work together. Preset organ tones are not necessarily designed to work with it, although some may. You would have to try them.
  13. PX-5S is a much better master controller than the MZ. MZ-X is not designed for extensive MIDI integration like the PX-5S. XW synths are the better MIDI controller as well. I would say the PX-5S is the best, since it has assignable sliders, knobs, pedals and mod wheel, assignable to any of the standard MIDI CCs, and 4 arpeggiators that can send MIDI CC messages on each step of a pattern.
  14. I think it would be better to attach screenshots of anything in question. With so many different pages on the forums, different themes, mobile and desktop versions, it is difficult to know if we're seeing exactly the same thing.
  15. Please carefully follow all instructions and download the additional PDF manual at the followings links. CT-X5000 CT-X3000
  16. @McMick Have you gone through our downloads section and tried installing many of the EP sounds shared by Mike Martin and the user community? I know some of them already have the bell assigned to a slider where you can adjust the level, and also ones with more bark. 17. Guitar tones are present, and can be applied to a split keyboard. A strumming articulation is not something the keyboard will automatically do. You'll need to manually play a strum style.
  18. Hi Steve, welcome to the forums. You'll want to check your modulation wheel over on the left. It sounds like it's not in the full off position. Full off is the notch all the way down, as in the attached photo.
  19. Auto resume saves most settings for a power down cycle, but it doesn't automatically save it as a registration. It's designed to allow us to continue where we left off. If you were to press the registration button again after powering up, it would reset to the previously stored registration, rather than what was changed before powering down. Strumming guitar, that's a tough one to answer. I'm not sure if it's possible.
  20. In case anyone was wondering exactly what I'm playing, it is from Floyd Cramer's, On the Rebound.
  21. I recorded this into the line input of my laptop. I connected line out from the CT-X with a commercially made cable, TS standard plugs to TRS mini plug.
  22. I made a video on it. The section about loading the files starts around 1:30 in the video. Once you have the files copied to the MUSICDAT folder on your flash drive, the steps in the video will take it from there. Although it's not the highest production quality video, it should help.
  23. Those are solo synth tones. They will only install in user solo synth locations. It is only possible to overwrite any previously saved user tones.
