  3. @Ashearon Yes, I don't know exactly what you want, but in principle, if you want to use two ctx via midi directly between them and the midi out one of them not to send a Program Change message, then you need a programmable midi usb device (initially via the computer, then used standalones) such as DOREMIDI
  4. @Ashearon How are they connected? directly between them or through the computer (daw)? Through the computer you can use a midi filter for PC (programm change). But what is the reason why you would connect two ctx together? I have an Impulse49 midi controller connected to ctx for the sound source.
  5. @Pakdad, you can send midi from DAW to ctx for play with ctx tones (sounds), but not for recording what you send. Ctx Rhythm sequencer records from keyboard Upper1.
  6. I play my ct-x3000 with Ardour DAW on Linux, after installing ct-x3000 midnam file. After, add new midi track (no synth - I select ct-x3000 later from track header), set routing - input ct-x3000, output ct-x3000, select midi channel (1), select patch (tone), and ct-x3000 Function Midi Local Off. I play with ct-x3000 tone on Midi IN sound part. You have to look in Cubase Operation manual pdf file for how to select playback device in the new midi track, after you manage to install the new midi device.
  7. This is patchfile for Cubase https://support.casio.com/common/support/download_files/en/008/PatchScript/Keyboards/CT-X3000_5000/CT-X3000_5000_CB.zip And steps from Cubase guide

  9. CT-X3000 tone 289 Solo Tenor Sax, no edited. Back tone 001 Stage Piano, no edited. SoloTenorSax-HowItSounds.mp3
  10. CT-X3000 tone 106 Accordion Italy 1, no edited. AccordionItaly1-HowItSounds.mp3
  11. @SFChuck For a more accurate research, you can download APPENDIX File for CT-X3000/5000 and Voice Name List for EK50L. CT-X has 18 Accordion tones (accordion, harmonica, harmonium, bandoneon, from 4 categories), 6 Tenor Sax tones (from 3 categories) and 5 Vibraphone tones (from 2 categories) to which you can apply vibrato effect.
  12. @Just Alex That's good... It would be nice if you could figure out how to transmit/receive Start(play)... That would be something much more useful... 🙂
  13. Regarding the question and according to the midi implementation map, the last page of the CT-X manual, it is not possible to change Registration via midi. The midi map shows clearly what the CT-X3000/5000 can transmit and what it can receive.
  14. @jakenl Did you loosen the screw under the label? Check it out... Take a picture of the label first, you might ruin it... OR
  15. @tibi For direct connection between only usb midi synthesizer, you need an USB MIDI HOST Device and an USB Hub for plug in up to four (4) USB Midi devices. https://kentonuk.com/product/midi-usb-host-mk3/
  16. @Just Alex It happened to me too, ct-x3000 v. 1.07... I can't make a correlation for what reason, because sometimes I had to rename once, sometimes twice, to keep new name.
  17. @GeneBerrier, @GeneBerrier, From your question, I understood that you mean to the tracks of a song, that you want to start a track when another one ends. But now I understand, you want to go from one song file (wav or midi) to another. (user guide EN-39 to 43). Or, more simply, press the plus or minus button for next or prev file.
  18. @Jsemmler84 The 163 Front Drive Guitar tone is a default DSP tone. It has already applied DSP-Number 840, called DelDAmp (CASIO APPENDIX pdf), in addition to attack, release, reverb, etc... This DSP effect has 4 modules (effects): Drive ( module number 27), Tone control (module number 7), Amp Cab (module number 28), Delay (module number 21). Read the Casio user guide EN-132 to EN-143 (DSP List) and EN-71 to EN-75 (Tone edit) and test how each parameter of each module affects the sound, especially Tone Control (for high and low) and Delay (for feedback) modules, for what you want.
  19. @Gene Ostenkamp Ok, kenton is just usb midi host connection between ctx and... another midi device. What is that device? Which one do you want to sounds? Which one do you want to be Master and which slave? You have to tell us more. If you want to play on ctx and the other device is a midi sound module and if you want only the sound module to sounds, then ctx midi local off and from kenton to sound module midi in (one midi din cable). Through USB MIDI you have both IN and OUT midi connection. With clasic midi DIN cable, if you connect midi out from sound module, ctx receive midi. Even ctx midi local is off, sounds ctx MIDI IN group. You can verify on ctx mixer MIDI IN, and off channel from there. I told you in another topic, when you play a ctx key, it sounds in the audio and transmits a midi event at the same time. Ctx midi local off means that you will no longer hear when play, but the midi events will be transmitted.

  21. It's not clear what you're asking, but: audio is audio and midi is midi. Midi is not audio. Whatever you play in the ct-x3000 will be audio out and midi out at the same time. If you enter to the ct-x3000 audio in from an external source (external player), it will be heard in the ct-x3000 audio out. If you enter to the ct-x3000 midi in from an external hardware or software midi out, it will be heard in the ct-x3000 audio out, sounds with ct-x3000 tones.
  22. A daw is a software application that runs on pc (mac, windows, linux). If you don't want involve pc, you can use a midi keyboard controller with minim 4 zones feature + midi usb host device for connection between ctx and controller. Yes, I use ct-x3000 and pc. I use linux pc and Ardour daw, with all settings for music production, for realtime low latency Jack Audio server. If you want more information, you can ask.
  23. @nilson Ct-x3000/5000 has the ability to play 2 different sounds (tones) at the same time from the same key(s), the so-called layer function. Ct-x3000/5000 has the ability to divide into 2 zones, upper and lower, the so-called split function. Ct-x3000/5000 has the ability to split and layer up to 2 upper and 2 lower. Ct-x3000/5000 has the ability to Auto-Harmonize what you play in upper 1, with 12 types of auto-harmonization. Auto Harmonize function takes effect when playing chord in accompaniment zone (ACCOMP ON). However, by construction the Ct-x3000/5000 has 64 notes polyphony (32 for certain tones), so for this reason more than 2 upper layers would affect the quality of the performance (especially when using sustain, or chords) by reaching the threshold of notes played simultaneously. Ct-x3000/5000 user's guide: "Some notes are cut off while they are playing. Notes are cut off whenever the number of notes being sounded exceeds the maximum polyphony value of 64 (32 for some tones). This does not indicate malfunction." I play with 3 layer through pc daw, stage piano + slwstrings + el organ, sounds good, but sometimes I get notes cut off, mostly strings release.
  24. It is possible to output not only 9 tones, but up to 16 simultaneously with tones from ct-x (16 MIDI IN channels). But not with ct-x alone. I use a midi keyboard controller for this, which has 4 zones that allow split and/or layer, so I can play 4 layers simultaneously. As far as I know, they are midi keyboards controllers even with 8 zones, that means 8 layers. You can also get this through PC daw.
  25. In short, to answer your question precisely, no, you cannot combine up to 9 tones with this keyboard alone. It is possible with another midi keyboard controller or with PC daw software.
