  1. Regarding the cutoff filter. It cuts off frequencies, but if there are no such frequencies in sample present, it can't cut off what is not existent What I mean. Say some sample has highest frequency of 5khz. And say cutoff filter operates from 1 to 10khz. So when you rotate it above 5khz, there will be no effect, because there are no frequencies to edit Regarding the EW series. I played it a bit in a store and find it quite pleasant, at least piano sound far superior that of X3000/5000. On the other hand, MZ-X500 has comparable quality (or even better!) sounding pianos and very pleasant keyboard feel, and I was able to buy it (store had last display unit remaining) for $500, but I don't think this will be available for you.
  2. If you're SOLELY into piano playback, Then EW425 has far better piano sound. It should be noted that devices are either for general playback, or piano-oriented - full scale, weighted hammer action and so on. In case you want it all and without computer - then buy some high end fatar midi keyboard and stand alone midi module....
  3. Do not expect to get any practical response from "official" Casio support here - they simply don't know.
  4. Version 1.0.0

    10 downloads

I did this just out of curiosity - this is an antique Amiga sample, 8kHz sampling rate, 8 bit bit depth. I upscaled it to 44kHz and added some effects and it is still usable!
  5. Version 1.0.0

    5 downloads

My first attempt in last 30 years to do some sample programming. Nice, stereo EDM bass, nothing spectacular, but still usable.
  6. This is really disturbing! Say I have some rhythm, in which I want to change certain drum sound only. I go to editor and found out that event edit is greyed for rhythm tracks! I have to create new rhythm, and manually copy all elements to new rhythm, which means more than 60 copy-paste operations! Is there a direct way to "unlock" event editor for rhythms?
  7. MZ-X500: Euro Samba - "Tico tico no fuba". Electro Pop 2 - Maroon 5 - "Moves like Jager" Rock Anthem - Europe - "Final Countdown" 80s super rock - Toto -"Africa" 80s synth pop - Depeche Mode - "Can't get enough" Pop reggae - UB40 - "Red red wine" And a lot more, including Lady Gaga and others
  8. Hello, when in tone/rhythm/song editing mode on CT-X, when you press exit, it asks, "SAVE ?". But here it does not, so I edited something and accidentally hit "menu" or "main" button, and all changes are lost! is there a way to avoid this? Also, many sounds have portamento ON, while it should be OFF. Is it possible to globally turn portamento off ?
  9. Thanks, will do it So busy these days, haven't unpacked my MZ-X yet, it is still in box
  10. Oh, found it, it was well hidden, thanks to my ad blocker https://support.casio.com/common/support/download_files/en/008/firmware/MZ-X300_500/Web_MZX500_300-160-E-1A_EN.pdf My MZ-X500 has 1.31 firmware, should I upgrade to 1.40 first or can directly flash 1.60 ?
  11. Today I went to shop to buy myself a xmas gift I was hoping for Korg Kross 2, but it was out of stock, so I ended up with MZ-X500 instead. By the way, there were also much more expensive Korg PA-600 and PA-700. I had chance to compare MZ-X500 vs Korg PA-600 side by side. Sound wise, I should say, they are on par. Some sounds are better there, some sounds - here. However, there were two distinct differences, which definitely need considering. 1. Screen quality. Korg has much bigger screen, but it is worse! The displayed data is low resolution, and it is upscaled to screen resolution, causing blurry fonts and blurry graphics. I took some photos, can post, if someone interested. On the positive note, it is much more fluid, than screen on MZ-X500. 2. Keyboard quality. Korg's keys have very short travel, almost like toy piano, and they feel too light. Contrary to that, MZ-X500 keys are much more solid, have nice travel and pleasant to play. It should be noted that dynamics are quite different, compared to CT-X series. For example, the guitar slides require much less force on MZ-X, than on CT-X, so you have to change your playing manner... And regarding the menu system, Korg is much less intuitive, compared to Casio. Believe or not, I was not able to change the playing sound! Had to call store assistant
  12. Yes they are all ready. Just I need to load them to keyboard to do minor adjustment to voicing, but I can't to that, because memory of my X5000 is full and there is no way to delete all loaded styles - you have to delete them one by one. So I'm seriously considering renting MZ-X500 today, to batch load these styles there and check the sounding. But since you insist, I'm attaching them here as they are. And for the money, I'm not making any money on this - all income will go to Ukrainian kids, here in republic of Georgia we have plenty of them as refugees now, so all income will be used to buy them clothes and some new year gifts. Even $1 donation will be gladly accepted. My paypal email is enjeyn @ gmail com (I'm deliberately adding spaces to it to prevent spam bot attack) Send whatever amount you feel comfortable, and I'll respond with the password to this archive. If any style sounds bad, let me know and I'll fix it ASAP. xmas.rar
  13. 25th is impossible to imagine without timeless "Last Christmas", so here it is - 4 parts, intro, ending. Last Chr.AC7
  14. Wrong. You should read 1st what I asked. https://support.casio.com/en/support/download.php?cid=008&pid=1211 Here are given a bunch of new functions, let me copy it: Improvements Provided by This Update Version 1.50 >> Version 1.60 • Addition of Am to PLAY CHORD for PATTERN RECORDER recording • Expanded maximum number of element measures that can be created with PATTERN SEQUENCER • Support for copying between different elements with the PATTERN SEQUENCER Part Copy and Element Copy • Support for selection of tones other than Drums for the Drum part and Percussion part with PATTERN SEQUENCER • Addition of items to REGISTRATION FILTER • Other improvements in function Version 1.40 >> Version 1.50 • Addition to the MIXER EDIT function of the pattern sequencer the ability to modify the parameter settings of all elements (Intro, Variation, Fill-in, Ending) • Addition of the ability to delete specific recorded notes with the pattern sequencer recorder • Addition of the ability to modify User Wave/User Inst names for Hex Layer and Bass Synth and Drum tones • Addition of the ability to use sliders to control filter cutoff and resonance when selecting Hex Layer and Bass Synth tones • Addition of the ability to delete ZRA, ZAA, ZTA, ZPA, and ZAL files • Addition of a shortcut to the user data selection screen by holding down a tone group button in the TONE area or a rhythm group button in the RHYTHM area • Addition of a user tone wave preload function • Modification/addition of pad playback items • Addition of pad recording setting items • Addition of pad phrase recording items • Addition of the ability to playback pad phrases with dedicated parts • Addition of the display of the recorded tone of a recorded pad phrase • Change of behavior when pad hold is enabled • Addition of synchronized playback of pads to which phrases and/or chord progressions are assigned • Addition of synchronization of all pads • Other improvements in function But for download there is only a document describing how to use new features in version 1.40 of firmware, not 1.50 or 1.60. So I'm asking, where's user manual for all these features shown above?
  15. The manual pdf on webpage says "1.40 and above", but it does not says anything about these improvements in 1.60 firmware.
  16. Here's a Jingle Bells rhythm - nice intro/ending, 4 parts. JingleBL.AC7
  17. Haha, read what I wrote above. Casio is far for perfect, very far, but there's nothing comparable in that price range (unless you buy something well used. Like here for price of CT-X5000 I can buy used Yamaha PSR-S750, but it comes from pub and looks and smells accordingly ) I've built an own "library" of sounds for CT-X, which have almost all EDM sounds, except so called OrganBass or Korg M1 bass. For example, all sounds heard here can be quite closely reproduced on CT-X, except above mentioned OrganBass.
  18. Hello. Whenever such is possible that say, I recorded 4 measures of drum pattern to the track #1. Now I go to edit, select "repeat N times" and these 4 measures will be copied along that track N times? can't find info on that in manual.
  19. As you can see, it line ups with my recent comment quite well - Casio CT-X sounds aren't stellar at all, but for that price, there's nothing better or even as good as they are.
  20. I have played it a bit. Not that long, but I can say that voice quality wise, it is more closer to Yamaha PSR E-373. To be honest, neither much more expensive PA-300 or PA-600 had "wow" factor for me, but KROSS2 - had
  21. Do not edit track, change say volume of some part and try to exit, will it ask for save?
  22. Oh by the way, there is a way to do a 1:1 digital byte copy of CT-X audio output. But for this you will need some electronics and good quality soundcard. And you will loose you warranty. For this, you will need the two things: 1. I2S to SPDIF converter 2. Soundcard with SPDIF input (also soldering iron, screwdrivers, etc). You need to open your keyboard, find amplifier chip, which is digitally connected to synth output,, connect your I2S to SPDIF connector to it, and then use SPDIF port of your soundcard to digitally capture audio output.
  23. Yes, the vibraphones are lacking, so I created one by myself - more mellotron style, with vibrato... Electronic organs - on the one hand, they are far far better than any on comparable price range Yamahas, but in general, not amazing. Church organs are great - In my taste, my toy Casio MA-130 has better church organ, than $900 Yamaha, but this might be subjective. Guitars actually are quite good, as guitar can sound while played on keyboard. I especially like the versatile nylon guitar - Learned some tricks, so can play some solos so naturally, that unsuspecting listeners can't distinguish from a real guitar. Regarding the synth part, actually, there are quite few real sounds - most sounds, as in case with guitars and others, use same sample, but with different filters applied. Actually, all sound questions can be answered in the following way: 1. Are sounds good in general ?- no. 2. Can you get similar or better-quality sounds for that price range? - no. Speaking shortly, Yamaha PSR E4xx series, which are within same price range, have 8 or 12 or 16 (don't remember exactly) "Cool" and "Sweet" voices. These came directly from Tyros and sound accordingly - no Casio can match these. Yes there is only limited choice of these sounds (piano/galaxy e-piano/sax/flute and some others), but they are enough for homebrew musician. Other sounds are very so so on Yamahas. For example, a Harpsichord uses only 2 samples across the whole range. Contrary to that, sound quality on Casio is more even, there is almost equal quantity of OK and junk sounds, but only few of them are really usable, and unlike yamaha, these are not the "common" sounds. For example, CT-X has very nice coupled harpsichord sound, or it's nylon acoustic guitar is same grade as in expensive PSR-S series of Yamaha, but none of these great sounds are good for daily use.
  24. I think, you should go to "edit style" and make some cosmetical changes on it, and try to exit the editor, it will ask "save?" and you save to empty slot and then take care as you need.
