  1. Wes, Correct me if I'm wrong but you're saying that the PX-5S shows up in the Audio/MIDI Setup in the Mac operating system (as it should) but doesn't work in Logic? Most manufacturers of software plug-ins, audio interfaces and other DAW peripherals have advised that you should NOT update to Catalina due a wide variety of issues. That being said the PX-5S is class-compliant and supported by the Mac operating system directly. As you've confirmed it is showing up in the OS. Why it is showing up in the System but not working in Logic is a bit of a mystery but in my opinion this issue falls completely on Apple. I will confirm with our staff in Tokyo. Do you have an audio interface that is working with Catalina that also has a MIDI Input?
  2. 32 MINI-keys. I'm quite certain it is channel aftertouch, not Poly-Aftertouch.
  3. Confirmed it here. We're checking into this further.
  4. A tricky one because it is somewhat unique to the ARP. It is a pseudo duophonic sound. Two oscillators, one isn't changing pitch and they're both going into a ring modulator. You could start with a Hex Layer tone with two layers both sawtooth. On the second layer, go to the pitch page and set key follow to 0, then tune that layer (course tune -3) to an A. You'd also want to make both layers non-velocity sensitive. This is the core part of the sound. At that point you'd want to experiment with the Ring Modulator - this is a challenge on the PX-5S. It is really hard to get our ring modulator to really sound like the old ARP. I wouldn't keep it 100% wet, I'd add a good bit dry signal back in and do your best to tune the frequency to an A. Add some chorus to the overall sound as well.
  5. Sparky, Very sorry to hear this. Definitely contact Music & Arts and ask for an exchange. If you can, please send me the serial number via a private message so when they return it to us here at Casio I can look into it.
  6. This looks like you might have a physical problem with Slider #5 Move the slider several times and see the problem goes away.
  7. I'd recommend you try some of these two downloadable piano presets:
  8. I'm not sure what you're referring to, I have no idea how to speak Chinese. Is there something specific you need help with?
  9. All weighted action keyboards make noise. Try playing an acoustic piano without the strings attached and you'll realize how noisy a real-piano actually is. The action that is in the PX-5S is the same action that is in the PX-160, PX-350, PX-360, PX-860, PX-870, PX-760, PX-780, PX-770, AP-260, AP-270, AP-460, AP-470, and probably others that I'm not thinking of. The ONLY difference is the PX-5S compared to all the other slab-piano models listed about is that the PX-5S doesn't have speakers and most people use those speakers in the other models. Without the speakers, I suppose it is possible that physical noise may seem perhaps a pinch louder because there is more empty space inside for those physical noises to resonate.
  10. Most likely it is this. You're using a Stage Setting the has more than one active MIDI zone.

  13. Thank you. It was amazing being in the room with these guys. The next couple segments will be a little more challenging to edit unfortunately. Mr. Fortner forget his camera batteries so his camera didn't last very long. I forgot a USB drive to capture audio directly from the PX-S3000. So it was just captured with the room mic and I think we had some other audio issues. 🤯

A variation of the core sound as used in this PX-5S video below: Notes: No custom controls have been set up with this but here are two tones - Noire Piano (piano melody tone) and a Sub Sin (hex). Also two Registrations included. Registrations will not automatically point to the proper sounds. Once selected you'll have to choose the proper tones and re-write the registration. This does give you the proper effects settings. Two Registrations (ZRM files) which you'd have to point to the proper sounds. v1 - Both set up as Layers Upper1 (Noire Piano) and Upper2 (Sine Sub). v2 - I set up with the Noire Piano as both Upper 1 and one of the Splits, with the Sub Sine layered in the other split. This gives you the flexibility to use another Hex pad sound in Upper2.

  17. Casio partnered with Music Player Network to put this piece together. We brought together Nashville's top session players at Ocean Way Studios for an intimate discussion about being a studio musician in Nashville. Stephen Fortner hosts a discussion with keyboardists Matt Rollings, Michael Whittaker, Steve Nathan, Charlie Judge, David Cohen, David Dorn. We'll see some playing (using a Privia PX-S3000) in a future episode.

  19. Hi everyone. Sorry for the trouble the last few days. We were migrating the site to a new server and unfortunately it didn't go as smoothly as expected. As a result some data from earlier this week was lost. We're back up as of this morning, please let me know of any issues you find here in this thread. I think we're in good shape now.
  20. Definitely not the same. How are you listening to the PX-S?
  21. Bluetooth Audio has latency. It is faster with the latest versions but definitely noticeable.
  22. When you change the DSP you're also resetting the reverb send. After you've chosen your DSP effect, simply change the knobs to control the reverb amount and add the specific amount of reverb you want back in.
  23. Yes the reverb just has to be added back after you change the DSP effect. Use the knobs to change the reverb send amount.
