  1. Hi, I have been trying to connect a Privia PX-110 to a computer to use with either Garage Band or Flowkey and not having much luck. I have tried both my Mac and Windows 10 PC. I have the cables and the computers recognise the connection. In the case of Flowkey on a PC, it recognises the connection. GarageBand on the Mac does not. Bit even through the PC recognises the midi connection, it wont operate as it is suppose to (Flowkey stops the progression of the music if you cannot keep up). Just wondering if anyone can help. Thank you.
  2. Hi, does anyone have any idea how to add swing after a quantized MIDI recording at the MZ-X500 ? Swing means to move every second MIDI note by a defined value (usually in %). It would be too tedious to make all adjustments manually for each note in the event editor. Regards Popsel
  3. Could someone help me out with how to best connect the Privia PX-5S to a Focusrite 4i4 to a mac? As far as I can see, looks like the lead that came with the Focusrite is the one that connects to a computer. So now I just need to connect the piano to the Focusrite. Am I right in thinking I can choose to do this either by midi cables or a usb cable? I REALLY wanted to set this up today but I only ordered one midi cable and from what I've read I would need 2, one from piano midi in to focusright midi out and one from focusrite midi in to piano midi out? But as I'm gonna have to order a new cable either way, I'm now wondering whether it might be better to order a usb cable instead? Looks like the Focusrite came with a USB C to USB A? Did it? I'm really not sure. Am I right in thinking I would need a USB A to USB B to put the A end in the computer and the B end in the piano? And then also connect the Focusrite to the computer with the cable it came with? So I just need a USB A to USB B cable? Is that right? That's the normal rectangular USB in the computer to the square one in the back of the piano? I also read that connecting a midi controller keyboard via USB means you can power it through that connection, thus removing the need for the keyboard's power cable? Is that true when you are using a Privia PX-5S as your midi keyboard or does that only work with small midi controller keyboards? Should I keep the power cable plugged in? ✨Thank you for any help!✨ Please assume no technological knowledge on my part with your reply! I have literally only ever used my piano as a piano and know pretty much nothing yet about audio interfaces, music production or cables. I will be so excited when I can actually set this up though! And Happy Easter!✨🥚🌼🐣🌸🐇🦋✨ 🌈
  4. Hi all, I connected my PX-S3000 using an USB cable to my computer. Configured REAPER for recording/playback and it seemed to work. No I selected a STRINGS sound on the PX-S3000 and recorded a track. But when I press play in REAPER I hear a piano sound, no strings? The display on the PX-S3000 shows "Stereo Strings" as selected sound but a piano sound is played back. I tried different MIDI channels in REAPER with no success. What am I missing here? Thx in advance Moehre
  5. Hello all, I've created an account and posted here after spending the last 6 hours searching Google and Microsoft with no success. I have a Casio CDP-220R and I was finally able to move it into my office where my Windows 10 PC is. I know in the past I briefly had it connected to a laptop running Windows XP (and possibly one running Windows 7) but for the life of me I can't get Windows 10 to recognize it. The error I'm getting is "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)", code 43. According to everything I've read, my Casio is GM Level 1 class compliant, so there are no drivers to download for it and it should just work. I've seen some discussions regarding USB 2.0 vs. 3.0 ports but I believe I only have 3.0 ports on my computer (at least my Device Manager only reports USB 3.0 hub controllers in the list). Everyone who posts this issue to Microsoft is told to reinstall or update the drivers (which of course does nothing because there are no drivers) or contact the manufacturer for updated drivers (which of course means nothing because class-compliant devices don't have any drivers at all). I have tried every USB port on my computer, tried different cables, no dice. I was wondering if anyone out there has had this problem with Windows 10 and knows of a workaround or solution? Thank you so much for your time, Clayton
  6. Hi, I'm a newbie, I bought the CT-X3000. I formatted the flash drive in the keyboard. I copied the .mid file to the MUSICDAT folder, as well as the .cm2 file converted from the .mid file using "CASIO smf converter". I have shortened the file name to 2 characters. Every time after "LISTING" I have ERR NO FILE error. What am I doing wrong? BTW, what application do you recommend on the iPad for playing MIDI keyboard music with song lyrics?
  7. I am attempting to use a USB-type B cable to connect the 560 to a Mac for home use with GarageBand. I cannot get the device to recognize the keyboard. In searching Apple I found how to use the Test MIDI Setup button in the MIDI Studio toolbar. the process shows me that data is transmitting out but NOT in. Any help is appreciated.
  8. Is it technically possible to implement bluetooth midi via a firmware update? And maybe even Midi 2.0? such a great update could also be paid for in my opinion. Greetings from Germany.
  9. Here is a screen recording from my iOS app, Verti-Chord Pro v7.7.7 (beta), which transforms a Casio PX-5S to emulate the FULL functionality of a pedal steel guitar (i.e., full portamento). Guitarists, notice that the left hand is not playing piano chords. It is ‘fretting’ guitar barre chords. Also notice that the right hand is not playing piano notes. It is ‘plucking’ fretted guitar strings. Enjoy. Feedback welcome. GARY
  10. Can someone please help me with setting up an external keyboard midi controller? I would like to use the PX5S keyboard with one stage setting, and at the same time use an external keyboard to drive a second stage setting on the PX5S. For example, play Concert Grand on the PX5S keyboard and have a midi controller play the PX5S FastStrings stage setting. I also want to use ForScore to send the two stage settings to the PX5S via midi. What are the basic steps to make this happen? I know how to send a single stage setting from ForScore to the PX5S keyboard, but not how to use the external keyboard or to control its stage setting. Keith
  11. I have always used an SC-88 through a MIDI interface as a MIDI sound module sourced by my laptop’s software sequencer. . I now wish to simplify and scrap the SC-88 and use the keyboard for both a MIDI sound module as well as for live performance. Can the MIDI volume be adjusted separately from the keyboard volume control? In a live performance this must be done quickly at times. I could use the volume adjustment in the laptop's sequencer, but that takes too long. With the SC-88 I could be on the knob in less than a second. Please be gear specific if recommending any additional gear. Thanks!
  12. I really enjoy using the built-in sounds on my PX-S3000, but there are times when I want to use it as a MIDI controller too. I'd like to have the flexibility to play only built-in sounds, only external sounds (VSTs), or a combination of the two. I thought about maybe saving some registrations with different MIDI setups so I can quickly change. Are the MIDI settings on the keyboard global or can different MIDI setups be saved with each registration? Also, is there any way to turn off MIDI out on the keyboard? Thanks.
  13. Hello my friends! I have a Privia PX160 and two days ago I bought an XW-P1 to complement my setup. The question is: can I connect both via USB cable or do I need an interface like this https://kentonuk.com/product/midi-usb-host-mkii/ ?\ Thank you in advance for your attention.
  14. Is it possible to change instruments on a midi file played from a flash drive? I love to listen to player piano rolls converted to midi and think they would sound great with a Honky Tonk piano instrument.
  15. Hello everyone. This is my first time posting here, and I hope I have posted in the right place. So, my problem is that I own a CTK-519 piano that needs drivers in my computer in order to use a MIDI-USB connection cable. I have searched through google for the last 12 hours without any luck. I was hoping someone could direct me to the right direction. I am frustrated now. I desperately need the MIDI connection to work for the sake of an app that I am intending to use to practice playing. Any kind of help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks all.
  16. Hi, i have a Casio ctk 591 that i have since around 2007 when i was a kid. in the last years i haven't used it at all, but i wanted to start using it again but as a midi controller, so i bought a cheap usb to midi cable, the program i use recognizes the usbmidi cable and i can play some notes ok, but some other keys play a sustained high pitched note, for example: i play a key in the second octave and the program says its playing the key on the 11th octave. Now my question is what its the problem, i dont know if the midi cable its just bad or if there is somethign with the keyboard, maybe some configuration or some driver. Thanks.
  17. I have a CTK-3500, and am trying to send MIDI files to it. I called basic support, and they said they would have to get special software for it, but couldn't help me with recommendations for software. Does anyone know of MIDI file transfer software preferably compatible with Ubuntu 18.04, if not Windows 7? Thanks!
  18. Hi guys! I enjoy with my new CT-X5000 and really love the gear. Now trying to make it work with the PC (I use Sonar Home Studio). Everything is great, and I even attached my Novation Launchkey MINI MIDI controller's knobs to edit CT-X5000 sounds on the fly (filter, vibrato, EG, portamento etc). But there is a problem. The manual indicates, that sounds, controlled by external MIDI source, use their own separate block of effects (Reverb/Chorus/Delay) - a so called System Effects 2. So I can only change depth of these effects (CC#91,#93, #94), but I can't change effects' type. When I enter into a [SET] menu on the CT-X5000, it changes only System Effects 1 (used for keyboard/style playing, but not for external MIDI). Any ideas how to reach System Effects 2 block and switch there Rev/Cho/Delay type for external MIDI? System Exclusives? NRPNs? Thanks in advance.
  19. Is there a way to save PX-560 MIDI settings? I hate hi-res MIDI always ON
  20. Hello all, I have a very old Casio CTK 611 with midi outputs. I have a midi cable to USB. When I plug it in the midi cable lights up, and my Win 10 computer does indicate that a USB2.0 midi device is connected, and my music program (Sibelius 7.5) sees that device, but I can not get Sibelius to receive midi input from my keyboard (the test fails). I am assuming that my keyboard is way too old to work with Win 10 and there probably are not any compatible drivers. I just want to be sure before I sink money in a replacement keyboard. The midi cable that I have is a Sanoxy USB MIDI Cable Converter and has a dual in/out 5-pin DIN and a USB on the other end. I have searched the internet for possible answers, and have not had success. Any ideas?
  21. I have an old casio wk-1630 keyboard that I have had my entire life that I was wanting to do some music production with using FL Studio 10. I recently bought a MIDI to USB cable off of amazon and was told that it was plug and play. I sort of expected that I would have to jump through some hurdles because it's an older model keyboard, but I have seen people online use that keyboard to record things into their programs. At first I thought that it would be a driver issue, but I was told by casio themselves that the keyboard didn't have a driver I had to install on my computer. Has anyone ever used this keyboard to record and had the same issues as I have? If someone could shed some light on what I'm doing that would be great. I have attached some pictures of my keyboard so you guys can get a better understanding of what I'm working with. Thanks.
  22. I seem not able to find any help in the manual on how to use PX560 as a master MIDI controller. Any help would be really appreciated! Thank you in advance!
  23. I recently found out about the feature on the sd card , so i decreased the size of my 16gb sd card into 1gb and i get this error "card r/w" when formating it in the piano. What does it mean? and how do i fix that?
  24. Hi! I have a problem because I have created a MIDI performance and I want to move it to my CTK-6200 Keyboard, but I dont want to move it to the SD card, I want to move it into the Keyboard memory, but the Keyboard only accepts CMS files. The Casio software SMF convertor only can convert to CM2 files so it does not function in my case. Is it some tool or It is some way to convert that midi file to CMS?.The software that I used to create the MIDI performance allowed me to make the song compatible with my Keyboard Instruments. The problem is that I need it in CMS.
  25. This is my second question for the day so please bear with me. I will give a break down of how I went about layering different midi recordings. 1. Tone: Grand piano, I made a recording for about 30 seconds. 2. Once I was done with the 'first recording' I pressed the record button again but this time I chose a different 'system track'. (Tone being drums now) I pressed onto the play button and the piano piece I recorded started to play and along this I started adding some beats. 3. I stopped and listened to the recording, the piano was playing along with the beats. And I found this to be great. The issue that I found out was that, when I transferred the 'midi recording (with the beats)' onto my pen-drive and tried to use it on my FL studio. The keys played for the beats were coming up as piano keys and the piano piece that I 'first (initially)' recorded doesn't even play. So I'm quite confused as to what I should do in order to layer piano keys and beats (basically different tones) and make it sound the same when I transfer it as a file. Please help me out. Thanks :))
