  1. Hi - help needed please! I have my Casio PX-S3100 plugged into ableton live. However , despite the spec of the keyboard with the high res midi , the velocity output is terrible and means that even with adjusting some velocity settings in ableton I can either effectively play loud, or if I change the settings , play quietly. Anyone know what I’m doing wrong / give me a fix to be able to play normally (ie be able to play very quietly and then very loudly without having to change the settings) Help would be extremely appreciated as I need to use this keyboard for a gig and have programmed all the patches in ableton already - thank you!!!
  2. Hi everyone, My name is Leon, I'm new to this forum and the Casio keyboards, in general. Just recently, a friend of mine brought his Casio PX-S3000 to my studio. Apparently there was a big controversy on YouTube regarding the keybed and the weight difference between the black and white keys. My friend was curious to know how I felt about this keyboard. So I tried it out and really liked the way the keybed felt. I played some advanced repertoire and techniques and it was pretty responsive. Then my friend suggested I should make a video and talk about my honest opinion and share it with the Casio community. Hope you find this video informative and enjoyable. Glad to be part of this community.
  3. What’s the easiest/best way to make a recording and then make a recording overlapping it and have it eventually end up on a computer/flashdrive?
  4. Hi, I want to change a few settings permanent. Song volume : default is 100 I want it permanent to 50 Song type is midi : i want it permanent to audio For the rest I want to start the px-s3000 to start up default (no auto resume please!) If I use the bank, it forgets these song settings every time I power up the piano again. Is there a way to permanent store song volume and type and leave everything else to default? This is the story why : I have a piano course with CD. I ripped the CD, put the wave files on a USB stick, and put it in the USB slot. If I set the px-s3000 to song-type audio, I can play these songs from the song "buttons" (left from the display"). The only problem is that I have to switch every time the song type to audio. And the volume is too high so I have to bring it from 100 to 50 every time again. For me that is okay, but for my son it is quite a challenge. It would be so much better if the piano immediately starts up with these settings. What can I do ?
  5. Does the CASIO CT-X5000 have the same sound quality of the same tones as the CASIO PX-S3000?

This file contains: 1 - Real Piano (Stage Piano with some modifications to improve the sound quality); 2 - Bright Piano (bright version of Real Piano) 3 - Mellow Piano (mellow version of Real Piano) 4 - Electric Piano (two layered EPs) The three pianos are layered with strings or Pad. Note: install the file in the "MUSICDAT" folder on your flash drive. I am open for any questions or suggestions! I hope you enjoy it!
  8. I'm hoping this has an easy answer: How can I adjust the volume of a USB wav song relative to the keyboard on my PX-S3000? Ideally, it would be wonderful to be able to adjust the volume live via one of the assignable knobs.
  9. Hello guys! I discovered something not very pleasant about the issue of equalization. Using the envelope knob I ended up with something scary ... For that I used the attack control (K1) at its highest possible value and adjusted the value of the release control (K2) to zero. Playing note by note from note E4 to the octaves below it is possible to notice that the sound sample has a higher pitch mixed with the original sound. When a lower note is played, this sound is very noticeable and "spoils" the sound sample by mixing a frequency or timbre that most resembles an acoustic bass or something like that. I don't know if other PX-S3000 users have noticed this. I will post a video with tests that I did on my DAW and I await your comment. The first four played have no release and no attack values. P.S.: I'm very sorry about the hamming noise... I need to change my cables... 😕 Thanks! CASIO stereostrings analysis.mp4
  10. Does anybody mind if we play another round of "How do I make that sound"? Is anybody here familiar with "Hungry Like a Wolf" by Duran Duran? If you're familiar with it, and you have a PX-S3000, do you have any advice as to how I could make that arpeggiated synth sound in the background at the beginning of the song? Which arpeggio pattern should I use? Which synth sound? I've never tried the arpeggiator on my 's3000 (or any other keyboard, for that matter). I'm still overwhelmed by all of the features available to me, but this sounded like a good chance to get to know this feature. Thanks. --wpd
  11. Hello, everyone! I'm looking for a better way to improve the tone 001 :StereoStrings in attempt to change the EQ, but with no success. As a reference I have using the app SampleTank for a long time and I love the strings that app offers as a instrument. But now that a have the PX-S3000 I really like to know from you if there is a specific kind of DSP (probably) to help me to controll de EQ. In other words, to "open" the sound, or better saying, to add more gain in the middle frequencies, attenuating the low frequencies too. It seems that the tone was recording with a pre equalization too low for the middle frequencies and I feel the DSP that I tried does not bring me the results that I'm expected, having the SampleTank as a reference. Of course I will not achieve the same results, but the Strings from PX-S3000 needs a better EQ. One thing that I made it was the using of a knob to control de envelope and it's fine for me. Now I'm trying to better the EQ. Any ideas to point me in right direction? Thanks!
  12. I don't really know if this is a computer/phone question or a PX-S3000 question, but how do I switch my keyboard from listening to my phone to listening to my laptop? So far, I have ended up selecting "pairing reset", then deleting the bluetooth device from phone/laptop, and then re-pairing from scratch. Is that the only way to switch from one device to the other? I have a MacBook Pro and an iPhone SE if that makes any difference.

4 Organ Registrations with rotary speaker settings optimized and knobs preset for rotary control. Presets 1 & 2 are based on the JS Organ tone. #2 has the chorus/vibrato removed. Preset #3 is a Full Drawbar tone Preset #4 is a variant on the click organ tone. My recommended rotary settings Generally speaking I'm setting Ramp up/down times around 40-45 Slow speed is also around 40-45 Fast speed 112-119 Overdrive and chorus to your personal taste.
  14. Hello, music lovers. Today I recorded a piece I had composed before. This is not a MIDI-based beat music, so it sounds dull and unstable. But please enjoy my humble piano piece. And there's an address for the music sheet below. Now I am learning to use Studio One, hope I can use my privia as a controller and make more music. Thanks for listening! 15. I'm having trouble understanding how to use the FREEZE function to maintain the TRANSPOSE setting when I switch between registrations. REGISTRATION->FREEZE->Transpose is set to ON I select TRANSPOSE and go down 1/2 step in order to play along with a recording I found online. Half way through the song I switch from bank 1 to bank 2, and the TRANSPOSE function returns to 0. I obviously don't understand how to use FREEZE. Here's what I read in the manual: If I set the TRANSPOSE FREEZE function to "On", shouldn't the current setting be maintained when I choose a new registration? Please help. --wpd
  16. What is the latest firmware on the PX-S3000? I have version 0102, but I heard some more recent units may have version 0103. I am not aware of any firmware updates for this model (at least none that I could find on the Casio website). If 0103 is available, I am wondering what is the change and when it might be available.
  17. Hello, guys! I've been changing preferences on PX-S3000 and finally got a piano sound I like. Source piano is Concert Grand and Sound mode is Opera Hall. Tweaked some Brilliance, Reverb, and Resonance. Here's what I played and registered bank. Thanks for watching! https://youtu.be/MXoCKJJmb_Y A_PIANO.RBK
  18. Hello again all... The only voice list I've found for my PX-S3000 is the PXS3000APD-WL-1A/2A.PDF file provided by Casio. This file is, um, hard to use. I like to have a printout of voices on which I can make notes, but that would be pointless given the format of this PDF file. In the past I've swiped the text from PDFs to put into a spreadsheet but this Casio file is a litte monster and, of course, it's a nightmare. So I was wondering if the voice list (including factory default registrations?) is available in a more sane format for download. Thanks!
  19. Hello all. I want to start overwriting the registrations on my PX-S3000, but if it's like my Yamaha, I would be overwriting unique settings that are programmed in "at the factory". Does anyone know if I will be overwriting something I might want if I start saving my stuff to the registrations? The registrations I've listened to seem to be plain old factory voices, but it's a pretty big chore to confirm all 96 registrations with any certainty. Now If you ask me (if you want my newb opinion, or my wish) I think manufacturers should put nothing into user spaces, so that we don't need to wonder if there's something in there! I have a second question which I will write in a few moments the answer to which may answer this one... I'll try to edit this if it does. So far so good for this PX-S3000. Thanks
  20. I purchased my PX-S3000 about a year ago and have used it quite extensively almost every day. The piano sound is exceptional, and I have really enjoyed using it in a variety of different settings. I am running into a problem that seems to be getting more and more pronounced over time. When I first got the keyboard, the keys were quiet and smooth. Now the keys seem more loose and noisier. There is a noticeable clicking/clacking sound on certain black keys especially on keys that I play most often. This was not the case when I first got the keyboard. I've attached a video. I am curious if any other users have had a similar experience. I know the keyboard is still under warranty, but due to the COVID-19 situation, I have so far not been able to find a local authorized Casio repair shop that is open to check and fix it. Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Key Noise.mp4
  21. I just discovered a neat feature of my px-s3000 when I was playing with the DSP settings. I discovered that when I pressed the - and + keys simultaneously, they reset the DSP parameter to its default setting. I thought that pressing them simultaneously always reset a setting to 0, but for the DSP parameters, at least, it resets the setting to the default value for the DSP. Why do I care? Well, suppose I wasn't paying close enough attention when I decided to edit the "Auto Pan" DSP and I selected the "Rate" parameter instead of the "Depth" parameter... how do I know what it was set to before I started fiddling? I can just press the - and + buttons simultaneously to get back to the original setting and move on to changing the "Depth" parameter. Yes, I know I could reset the parameter by exiting out of the edit menu, choosing a different DSP, and then going back into "Auto Pan", but what would happen if I was changing the 4th DSP module and just wanted to reset one parameter after having changed a bunch of parameters in modules 1 through 3. Nice! Thanks guys! --wpd
  22. Okay. This is my last new question for tonight... I promise. I would like to play "Lights" by Journey with the cover band I have joined, once coronageddon is all over. I would like to surprise them with the new keyboard and show off how well I can play some of their favorite tunes. I've got the piano part down (well... mostly,... but practice will make perfect). But when I listen to the tune on Spotify, I hear a high pitched organ sound starting in verse 2. I wonder if anybody can help me figure out how to get something reasonably close to that sound on my s3000. Thanks. --wpd
  23. I'll keep this one short. I don't hear any difference in the default Concert Grand Piano setting in sound output as I wiggle those knobs. What should I expect to hear? (Maybe my ear is just not picking it up.) Are they disabled for the Concert Grand and perhaps other pianos? What tones should/do they effect, and how? I'm curious. And I'm a bit of a monkey... if I see a knob, I'm going to crank it up to 11 just to see what happens. And then I get confused when nothing happens (that I notice). Thanks --wpd
  24. Here is an experiment, I wonder any of you see this too... Reset settings Select 07:Porta./Mod. for the knob setting Dial knob 2 all the way to the left Play some piano music... it sounds reasonable Dial it all the way to the right... each note has a lot of vibrato Ok, that sounds weird, and is definitely not a normal piano sound, but it's fun to play with. Now repeat the experiment with a slight variation Reset settings Select 05:Vibrato and play with the settings, both knobs, enjoy the fun sounds, but leave the knobs all the way to the left at the end (no vibrato) Select 07: Port./Mod. for the knob setting Now dial knob 2 all the way to the right My keyboard plays about 1/4 step sharp. What's up with that? What does the "Modulation Depth" setting do? It seems to be related to vibrato, but I thought I turned that all the way off. Now, for bonus points,... I thought I could reset this by selecting another tone and then returning to tone 1 No, Grand Piano Bright definitely has a lot of vibrato on it. So does the concert grand (tone 001) Let's try this same experiment with the vibrato settings for the knobs: Select 05:Vibrato, play with both knobs, leave them all the way to the right, making funny sounds when you play (or, at least when you sustain some notes). Now select piano sound 002 and the vibrato shuts off Go back to piano sound 001, it's still shut off ...until you pay with the knobs again. So it seems to me, sitting here, composing this forum post, and playing this all over again, that the "Vibrato" knob settings are specific to the tone selected, while the "Modulation Depth" knob effect is applied independent of the instrument selected, but is somehow related to the vibrato speed or depth setting specific to the tone. This is weird. Can anybody explain to me what's going on? Or, back to my original question (and I'm going to follow up in a separate post with a pair of similar questions)... What is the "Modulation Depth" supposed to do anyway'? What should I expect of it? Now... if you've read this far, you deserve a treat. If you share your house with a son, daughter, spouse, roommate, frequent guest, etc... who likes to (and is encouraged to) play your s3000, then dial the portamento knob all the way to the left, and then back all the way to the right, and leave the keyboard on for the next time that other person sits down to play. I did that to my son, and neither one of us could stop laughing.
  25. Hello, music lovers out there! I have been a lazy keyboard hobbyist for 15 years using PX-400R. Bought a nice new PX-S3000 last week, and here's my recording. Really satisfied with the sound and feel. Thank you in advance and please feel free to comment! Youtube [PIC01]KimKwangMin-GoodbyeAgain.mp3
