On eBay I saw a rare workstation keyboard Casio CTK-711EX, which looks like an even bulkier variant of the mythical CTK-1000 with additional LCD display, 232 ToneBank, 110 rhythms and 3.5'' diskette drive. May it be that this one was "the real thing" while CTK-1000 was only a cut down household variant? (See here for my info and hardware analysis of CTK-1000.) Here is a YouTube clip about the CTK-711EX: My CTK-1000 panel PCB contains a strange adapter like when the hardware was originally designed for something else. Perhaps it was the LCD based CTK-711EX. This would namely explain why the fairly complex sequencer and synth in CTK-1000 was made but not means of data storage. By the way, I found out the mysterious meaning of "IXA Sound Source". It's "Integrated Cross-Sound Architecture" (thanks Synrise for info), which IMO sounds more like an advertisement name without technical meaning and therefore likely soon was dropped by Casio. I just found the CTK-711EX service manual from 1998, and the main ICs do strongly differ (see CTK-1000 hardware analysis). Thus it is likely more the case design than technical similarity. -

Hi friends! This is my first attempt to create the famous timbres and also the sequencer of the music Sweet Dreams. The sequencer is a stereo track, i tried to simulate the same pan of the original record. To the solo "synth strings" i used some layers of saw waves with a bit of detune. Olá amigos! Desta vez estou tentando chegar nos timbres do grande Don Airey na gravação do clássico Mr. Crowley na carreira solo do mestre Ozzy Osbourn. Se não me engano o famoso timbre baseado no OSC Saw foi criado em um Yamaha CS 80 e a melodia da intro é um MiniMoog. Nesse set a base de strings/saw estão na região C-5, antes, em C-1, esta o Moog, e no final coloquei um timbre de Choir que ainda vou trabalhar pra ficar mais melotron. -

Hi, guys. Im new to this place and the mz-x 500, but i couldnt find any info on how to use the synth on this thing, so i was hoping anyone here had a link for me, or could tell me some basics

Its been something like two weeks ago since I've noticed it I couldn't believe my eyes, But after a week has passed it became true there it was the XW-P1 and Thomann is selling them again after a long absent that could mean they might do the G1 also which I favor but.....Will I settle with the P1 with its step sequencer as an extra addition. So here I'm piercing the site like an eagle if a chance happen or perhaps do a quick order but winter NAMM is so close and the GAS feeling is starting to overwhelm me . -
I have to at least share my ideas immediately when they strike. I presently feel the MZ-X500 would benefit extremely in value, added upon its already established professional rank, if there were a plugin instrument of the same name that only works with the MZ-X500 keyboard. Added features via MZ-X500 software plugin could focus on: Effects and Mixing Console : - More effects, IR loading. With more mixing parameters and templates to further mix in more depth with the mixer. - Possibly use Mic and speakers for room calibration setup via MZ-X500 plugin software. MIDI : - Set up a midi controller to control the MZ-X500 plugin software! "You can control your MZ-X500 with your favorite midi controller thru the plugin software. This would enable live parameter control of adsr settings and more. Remote Operation : Use the MZ-X500 plugin software to have full remote operation of touchscreen. Audio Recording : - Ability to loop record to onboard MZ-X500 audio recorder via MZ-X500 plug in software(if not added to hardware os upgrade) Pad Sampling : - Ability to easily set and change volume levels of samples in pads. - Other pad variables(like linking each midi track to a pad to easily disable/enable tracks during recording. -Ability to record enabled pads/tracks(of midi channels[see above]) at the same time and each midi track will have the same recording individually. Enable/Disable midi tracks(via pads) during recording for easy composition of full orchestra, film scoring , and other production techniques. Would work beautifully with Hex Layers. -And other sampling request/improvements/audio editing or mangling Synthesizer: - Are you feeling this yet? - Just imagine Plug in your MZ-X500 and open it as a plugin in your DAW. -
