service manual

Recommended Posts

I think it's very sad that these days service manuals are not freely available, or at least schematics. In the olden days consumer electronics (radios, TVs) often had a schematic inside the case. My Moog Prodigy had a schematic in the user manual! It would be easy to make at least a schematic available on the internet. There are no duplication costs. Why do manufacturers insist on hiding this information?

I had a CRT monitor break down some years ago; no service manual or schematic and the manufacturer wouldn't repair it either as it was now a discontinued model. It actually led to me restarting the electronics hobby I had abandoned as it goes. It just seems incomprehensible to me that they don't want people to be able to repair our equipment.

"I need the service manual for the Casio XW-P1 Synthesizer or the CTK 6200". Translated from the above. There aren't any. Get in touch with an authorized Casio service center if you need repair. Most companies will only provide these to authorized repair techs. I have service manuals for other music devices-but only for some much older equipment, and had to request it from one other company to get one at all.
