finncosmic
Is there a way to download samples of tones from the PX5S and add them to Logic to create a virtual instrument that’s a tone from the keyboard? I know I can use an audio interface to get the audio from the keyboard into Logic, but I’d like something I can quantize like I would the virtual instruments built into Logic. I assume I could just record audio samples through that interface and put it into EXS24 somehow, but I think that might be hard to do and the results would depend on the quality of the interface. I’m fairly new to EXS24 and don’t fully understand what it can and can’t do. How do I get the result I want?
Brad Saucier
I would record everything by sequencer in Logic, that way you can quantize, edit notes, playback the sequence, then record the audio output of the PX-5S, once everything about your sequence is complete.
Joe Muscara
I think the process you're looking for is this. Note that you need to be running Logic 10.5 or later. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211115

Is there any way to get around that? Is it possible to download samples from the PX5S online, or something like that?
Brad Saucier
It's not possible to download PX-5S samples, or samples from most any other hardware instrument. They can only be recorded as audio from the instrument itself. I'm not sure I understand the advantages of sampling the PX-5S, whenever it has MIDI and can be controlled by the software sequencer on your computer just as easily as it could be as a VST instrument.
