maxa
Hi, I'll be soon deciding on this Casio pianos or Roland alternative. Casio is lagging along with connections (no Line in, no bluetooth) so it would be hard or maybe impossible to use it with Pianoteq and listen trough piano speakers but maybe there is a way around for what I want here. How these keyboards are looking after few years of use, do they "click" too much, which is the main concern in the reviews I read for Casio or they are fine? Questions: 1)When I load midi files to USB, can Casio px870/ap470 play general midi files with percussions, rhythm and all other sounds present in the midi song? My idea is to load a midi song and then play along On page 61 here there is "Midi implementation chart" but I dont understand it: https://support.casio.com/storage/en/manual/pdf/EN/008/Web_PX870_770-E-3A_EN.pdf 2) When I connect it to my PC (via usb), can Casio act as a player, so I play my midi file on computer (with FL for example) and hear it on my casio piano speakers? 3) When connected to PC (via usb) can I play a youtube video on a pc and hear it trough my piano speakers? 4) Since this pianos doesn't have Line in, any way to hack hearing sound from PC/Mobile phone trough the Piano speakers Korg has a little trick like this for example: https://youtu.be/OWDHCuWeMEI
Brad Saucier
1) Yes 2) It can act as a MIDI sound module. MIDI triggered notes can be heard on the Casio speakers. 3) No, the USB terminal is for MIDI only, not audio. 4) None that I am aware of. The PX-780 offers line inputs.
maxa
Thanks for the fast response. I'm aware 780 has some better functionality but It's not available on my market and from the reviews 870 is newer and step-up in the piano sound and action terms. For 2), does these MIDI notes include rhythm and accompaniment too or piano can just reproduce piano notes? Is there any way to use this piano with Pianoteq on PC and hear it trough the piano speakers?
Brad Saucier
2) I'm not sure I understand the question. The piano acts as a basic GM sound module whenever it receives a MIDI input. This means MIDI capable software on a computer can that can play standard midi files, can use the piano as the sound generator. On piano models without line/audio inputs, it is not possible to listen to external devices through the pianos speakers.
maxa
Got it, probably my question wasn't put 100% correctly because I'm inexperienced with what midi can and can't do. Thank you
