cs55xp
Hi, I'd like to modify the default piano tone to be more dynamic for my style of playing. I prefer a darker sound for low velocities and a more brilliant sound for higher velocities. So, basically I'd need a low pass filter which cutoff frequency can be modulated by velocity and key number. When I look at the default piano tone, there is only "Velocity Sense" in the DSP parameters. Not totally clear what it does from the description ("Velocity sense. Specifies the degree of change in the filter in accordance with change in keyboard playing touch."), but it sounds like it is changing the cutoff frequency. But there is no key tracking. In hex layers there is more control over the DSP parameters: "Velocity Sense" and "Key Follow" that might do the trick. Now the question is: Do I have to program a piano from scratch in hex layers? Is there a way to convert a tone to a hex layer zone? I'd assume a tone works internally as a hex layer component with a subset of parameters to change. Brad Saucier
I suggest trying different stage settings and downloads here on the forum. Check out the downloads section, both Casio official and community content. PX-5S is already one of the most dynamic piano sounds out there. cs55xp
Thank you for your answer. I think I found a tone that I can use as starting point: hex tone 20 which consists of different piano sounds. Another question. Would it be possible to upload the PX-5S FAQ again? All links to that file don't work anymore.
Brad Saucier
Here is the one by Jason Peterson. Any references to PX-5S dot com will no longer work, but most everything can be found on this forum or Casio support. FAQ.pdf
