Using Midi to connect Boss RC 505 to MZ X 500

I need help. I'm attempting to connect my Boss RC 505 looper via midi to my MZX 500. The MZ doesn't seem to be reading the signal though.

My idea is to have the looper as the master and the MZ as the slave and then be able to match tempos and rhythms easily as I create loops without having to match them up manually.

Possibly even use the pads functions that are already tied to the tempo of the rhythm as well.

Has anyone ever done this before?

I switched the cable around and made the MZX the master but then there is a noticeable delay when looping.

Unfortunately the MZ does not have a slave mode or sync mode. It does have MIDI clock output which runs constantly once enabled, added with a firmware update.  I wish I had better news.

Thanks for your help. I was wondering why I couldn't get it to work.  lol It will control the 505 but it changes tempo every time I change a registration so I don't want that. Is it possible to have it run as the master but not change my loop tempo every time I switch registrations?

Actually yes.  That was also added with an update.  Open the registration menu, look for filter edit and turn on the one for tempo.  Make sure the freeze button is on when you want to freeze it.

Awesome!! That does work. I actually hooked it up to my PX5S and it works perfectly with the PX5S as the slave. Immediately syncs to any stage setting with an Arpeggiator without having to adjust anything.

Thanks for your help. I got some toying around to do now. Maybe I can run the MZ as the master and slave the 505 and PX5S with my quadra midi thru. 😮😮😁😁
