the_cool_guy
Hi, I'm looking for a portable keyboard that would also work as a MIDI controller for my standalone synths. The manual mostly talks about the bluetooth USB dongle, which seems like it's more for connecting to tablets and laptops. I know that you can connect it to a DAW, and route the MIDI through that, but I'd prefer something that would work without a computer or tablet if possible. Would something like a USB to MIDI cable work? If not, what would be the simplest, most portable way of connecting this to a synth that uses a standard MIDI in port? Brad Saucier
USB on the CT-S1 is a "to host" port. This means it can't connect directly to another USB device that requires a host itself. A typical USB to MIDI cable requires a host. A host can be a computer, mobile tablet or phone, or a USB MIDI host box. USB MIDI host box is probably the easiest solution. Jamietopol
Yes, it definitely would work. You need a USB / MIDI host interface like this one on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/175678859203?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=CJh-X4dyQPa&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=E6kGuE4VQKG&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY I love the key action on the CT-S1 and use it primarily as a MIDI controller.
