Mike Martin
You'll notice at the top of the forum a new tab for Downloads. This will allow you to share custom sounds for your Casio product. At first we have sections for the XW series and PX-5S but we'll get sections for other Casio products added soon.
Null
I uploaded the XW-P1 INS file you created as well as an assortment of CTK and WK files. If I might suggest you add a WK CTK file section as well? Gary
Brad Saucier
Happyrat1, I use cakewalk too. I've always been curious about those INS definitions. I never messed with them. Is it easy to make one?
Null
Hi Brad, Basically you can open any INS file with a Text Editor to get an idea of the layout. Mike Martin and Craig Anderton over at Harmony Central created the XW-P1 file under my incessant nagging though I also contributed some beta testing to the final product. Since that experience I have since created a 99% functional INS file for the M-Audio Venom on my own and uploaded it to an appropriate yahoo group, so yeah, once you get the hang of it it's actually pretty easy. Here's a couple of links to howtos to get you started. http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/kb/reader.aspx/2007013272 http://tweakheadz.com/how-to-build-a-cakewalk-ins-file/ http://www.raisedbar.net/InsDef.htm http://tse3.sourceforge.net/doc/InsFiles.html The WK and CTK INS files I picked up on another board somewhere but that should give you all you need to get started. The nice thing about INS files is that the format hasn't changed in decades and it allows you to select instrument patches in your sequencer with your mouse. Hope this helps Gary
Brad Saucier
Thanks Gary, I'll have to study this. MIDI stuff stretches my brain to the limit.
