Hugh O Kelly
I noticed than a drum machine works great with the PX-5s The phrases, arpeggiators work well. Just thinking of buying a XW-G1 If you use the PX-5s +XW-G1 how well can you link them up. Since they are the same company maybe there is a super way to link them .Is there ? The drum machine on the XW-G1 looks easier than the PX-5s and might be more cost effective than buying a new drum machine + more sound and an extra output. Any thoughts
Mike Martin
It is a great combination. We'll be working one some downloadable drum sounds here for the forum in early 2014. I posted a PX-5S video yesterday and one of the comments was "Add a Linndrum and a Minimoog and it's instant Jan Hammer". My reply - That is what the XW-G1 is for. You can find samples of just about any vintage drum machine online for free. With a little patience you can load those into the XW-G1 and start making patterns. Tons of fun. Display Name
Oh yes.. they work VERY well together. I use my PX-5S for piano sounds and pads and the G1 for solo synth leads, drums and funky riffs. Also love the step sequencer and the sample looper. The 5S & G1 also sound very good together...and it's just a plain fun keyboard to play with.
Hugh O Kelly
Thank you Mike and Scott, Yes it does seem like a good idea to have the two and I like the sound of plain fun and tones of fun What I was wondering since they are both made by Casio do you have extra control. Meaning when you link them up would you have more control than through midi i.e. that you could do the step seq. from the XW more effectively into the PX-5s or would you just use them like two midi keyboards ? Questions Is the sample 16 bit Can you save it internally or do you have to load it each time ? Hoe many FX reverb etc can you put on each drum ? Is there just one master output or one for drums and synth ?

Sorry Hugh (and Neddy ) - I missed this last set.. will do my best to answer:1- Sample looper is 16 bit... I want to say 16 bit for samples loaded on an SD card. Sampling from the MIC IN is 10 bit I believe.2- Samples are saved in 10 "user slots" that stay there until you delete or replace them3- Not sure the exact number, but reverb, delay and chorus are available IIRC. 4- There is stereo outputs. You can probably split them with hard panning. You can find more details in the manual as well:http://support.casio.com/pdf/008/Web_XWG1-E-1B.pdfI will have some more insights on the G1 in the coming soon. I have some quality time planned for the next few weeks.
