Padking
I've been trying all kind of set up to be able to have a drum beat live with my PX.Sure you can build a beat with the phrases but sometimes I am kind of lazy, soI arrived to a interesting compromise, I have a MOXF from Yamaha and I bought aIOS softwares from the apps store (Itunes) ''synth and doctor pad from Yamaha'' $7.99it let's you use the pads (16) to play chords with one finger or bass and chords.it also has drum beat that you trigger from the virtual keyboard of the software,a hold function loops the beat, you can choose and change on the fly. Set the software to channel 10 (output) and it plays the drum of the PX,without stopping you from playing any stage setting in the same time.It will always play the same set (it's a good one, I am trying to find outwhich one) but the mapping is perfect. You must have either the IKmultimedia midi rig on the Yamaha IMX1(the IKmultimedia is cheaper and work's great $40.00)One limitation you have to use the output only for the drum, if you plugthe in and out , first note you will play on the PX will stop the drum.there's probably a workaround for that in the midi preference of the PX.The pad will also play with in/out plugged, So for about $50.00 you have a drummer to keep you tight. Brad Saucier
Couple of notes. You can choose among the different 5s drumsets on channel 10 by using the mixer which is in sys settings. Also, you can disable midi out events caused by playing the keys of the PX by turning off the midi out's in the stage setting>zone >midi settings. Padking
Thank you BradMZ,Problem is ,when you change the drum set, in the mixer the keyboard plays it, not the midi from the Ipad.Syssettings/sound generator/Mixer part 1-16/enter/tone. then you have to use the category button to goto drum, you change de set, the category of tone is keyboard, the button yes/no will only gothru the keyboard category, you have to use the category button (drum),but the keyboard plays it.Is that the good path ?By the way I am using stage setting 0-3 illuminated. Brad Saucier
I see one missed step. You said your software is set to output drums on channel 10. You'll need to change the drum set on the PX5s channel 10. You appear to have set drums on channel 1 which is the channel of zone 1 of the stage setting Sys setting>sound generator>Mixer part 1-16>enter>(press zone + button 9x to select channel 10)>drums
