JimG
I sent my PX5S off to Sweetwater for repair thinking they could fix the velocity to midi problem: they found nothing outside of normal specs for this keyboard and sent it back to me. My local sounds have a decent velocity response-- it's only the VSTi's I play in my Windows 8.1 laptop can't reach any samples above a midi velocity of 110 without slamming the keys and spraining my fingers. When I press the virtual keys with a mouse click in Kontakt 5 or Addictive Keys, I get nice loud samples at the bottom of the keys. I never can play these samples from the PX5S and get a range that lack dynamics. The sad thing is, I also have this problem with my Yamaha CP33. --- Jim
Brad Saucier
You can test this internally on the PX-5s. On stage setting 0-0 concert grand.... Press edit>stage setting>zone edit>mixer edit>velocity range low>set it to 120. Your PX-5s sound engine will not make a sound until you reach 120 velocity. Also, have you tried changing system settings>general>touch> to light?
JimG
Brad: Yes, I have thoroughly tested it. I can hit velocities above 120 if I smash the keys hard with my fingers. I sprain fingers easily, so no thanks. And yes, I have it set to the light touch setting.
Brad Saucier
Sorry about this. The PX-5s emulates a real piano in feel. It will take playing the keys hard to get high velocity just like in a piano.
