  1. Yes, turning off local control was helpful. So I’d say that I now have a pretty good “rig” for dual manual organ playing, admittedly giving up on the on-board sound of the WK-7600, and using it to drive the B-3x (finally bought the VST with coupon for $65) with full physical drawbar capabilities (just for one manual, which is fine)… and footswitch control of the Leslie speed as described above. My second/upper manual… a cheap Casio LK-170 my nephew is no longer using 🙂. I’m comparing the cost of this setup to buying a Hammond SKXPro (starting at $4000) and laughing…
  2. Related to this, still frustrated that I haven’t been able to completely selectively silence a “Drawbar Organ” patch on the WK-7600. Sure, if I set the patch to 0 for all drawbar settings and keep percussion off, it is silent… but then if I’m playing through MIDI to the “Organized Trio” VST as above (audio coming back to WK-7600 via AUDIO IN [STEREO] jack), and then change the drawbars (to drive the VST organ sound), of course the WK-7600’s own organ sound starts to be heard too. Am I right that there isn’t a mixer channel for AUDIO In [STEREO]? If I go to track A01 and turn volume to 0 (or turn off the track , it mutes AUDIO In [STEREO] as well. I have tried using the EXT (I) jack instead, doesn’t fix the problem. And I’ve been very disappointed about the sound quality of anything coming through the EXT (I) jack, very hissy and I cannot improve anything really with the threshold settings. Looks like I need an external mixer, but this sort of defeats the purpose for me of this keyboard having a built-in mixer function. Am I missing something here?
  3. I’ve been having fun with my collection of gizmos to extend the WK-7600’s capabilities: HOTONE’s Ampero Control with DOREMidi’s UMH-21 to enable footpedal control of Leslie sim speed, CME WIDI Master to use board as controller for iPad music apps. I have currently been having a blast loading a ton of VSTs onto an extra laptop I had lying around and trying out MIDI hosts, favorite one is Cantabile. It’s nice to be able to connect headphone out of computer to Audio In (Stereo) on the WK-7600. Sound quality good enough for a nice and portable “live rig”. I have come to accept that the WK-7500/7600 organ sound is passable for a non-discriminating audience, otherwise is meh/thin. Curious if anybody else is playing around using the WK-7600 to control a more realistic software clonewheel, trying to take advantage of the drawbars to be active in the VST? So far I have gotten it to work with IK Multimedia’s B3-x (PC trial version only to date [my laptop is unfortunately too underpowered for it], I’m disappointed that I can’t also try out the iPad version) as a potential paid option, and for a free option I actually went back to the old 32-bit VST “Organized Trio” (free version of VB3-II), which works great, but I did need to use a MIDI CC controller remapping tool to get the upper drawbars working correctly. Thank you for reading my ramblings, I hope others have found this somewhat useful, and curious also of course if others have had similar adventures?
  4. Great explanation, thanks! Have finally gotten around to trying it out, and my CZ-1 seems to be providing sufficient power. 👍
  5. I’m interested in using my CZ-1 occasionally as a MIDI controller for playing GarageBand/AudiokitSynth One/etc. instruments on my iPad. This would be using a MIDI to Bluetooth device. Choosing between WIDI Master and WIDI Jack. Does anybody know if the CZ synths of this vintage actually provide enough power through the MIDI out to suggest WIDI Master or do not provide power (requires WIDI Jack)? Thank you for any help.
  6. Think I have to go with the user tone option. Are you specifically meaning creating a custom tonewheel organ tone with all drawbars set to zero and percussion off, or something else entirely?
  7. I have been trying lately to maximize what I can do connectivity-wise with my WK-7600. First step was to figure out how to use a pedal footswitch to change rotary speed: I was able to connect together the Ampero Control programmable footswitch with a DOREMIDI UMH-21 MIDI host box (which in turn has USB A MIDI out that connects to the WK-7600 USB B MIDI in. You then set the Ampero to respond to connected footswitch to send CC 18 (or 12H), toggling values sent between 0 for slow and 127 for fast. Works great! Only thing is that the WK-7600 indicator slow/fast indicator light does not toggle with the change of speed though MIDI in. To get a full organ expression pedal experience, I picked up a BOSS FV-50L, which works really well for organ dynamics! Next, I thought it would be great to use the WK-7600 to control an iPad running apps such as GarageBand or AudioToolkit Synth One with the WIDI app also running, and then have the iPad audio out connect to the WK-7600’s Instrument line in. So i purchased a CME WIDI Master and connected this to MIDI out of the DOREMIDI UMH-21 MIDI host box. Then i got a headphone adapter for the iPad and connected the 1/8” cable to 1/4” adapter, then to instrument line in, like the adapter so i can be charging the iPad simultaneously. This last project is not going as successfully. I definitely can hear the iPad sound coming through the WK-7600 speakers or headphones/line out. The problem is trying to quickly, for example in a live situation, switch between WK-7600 native sound only, versus just the iPad, versus possibly a mix of the two (CME is right when they brag about low latency!) I have been trying to use the Wk-7600’s own mixer function and sliders to change volume for desired outcome. I am having trouble listening to just the iPad this way, as dropping the Track 1 (Upper part) volume to zero will often (but not always) cause the iPad to mute as well, which doesn’t make sense as the iPad I thought is under the “M/I Ext” Track. If it matters, I am trying to make sure always that DSP is off for the M/I track. Another annoyance is that mixer settings for M/I track can’t be saved into a registration. Hope I have gave some people some new ideas, would appreciate hearing if others have any suggestions about the onboard mixer issue? Hopefully I’m just making a stupid mistake somewhere. If there is really no good solution to be found on the WK-7600 itself, I am contemplating just getting a cheap to midprice mixer.
  8. For drawbar organ sounds, anybody find tone settings that come close to the “authentic” V1, 2, 3 and C1, 2, 3 settings on the B3?
  9. MidiSolutions boxes are out of stock everywhere. I was able to connect together the Ampero Control programmable footswitch with a DOREMIDI UMH-21 MIDI host box and it works! Only thing is that the WK-7600 indicator slow/fast indicator light does not toggle with the change of speed though MIDI in.
  10. What is the SysEx message for switching rotary speed that could be assigned to a MidiSolutions device? Could not tell clearly from the MIDI implementation guide.
  11. One thing missing to make the organ playing more "realistic" on the WK-7600 would be placing a 3rd-party volume pedal between the line outs and amp/mixer. Is anybody doing this, and if so, which pedal are you using?
  12. Okay, I'll try to awaken this thread by offering a custom tone... a "chill-out" lead with lots of echo, pretty useful for classic rock jams like Pink Floyd "Any Colour You Like" or Steve Miller Band "Fly Like an Eagle." Anybody else with good custom tones? AnyColor_Eag.TN7
  13. I started a new thread on this same question. But what about the drawbar settings for the upper tone, of course we would want to be able to modify this during performance.
  14. If I create a split with drawbar organ sound as UPPER tone, how can I make this tone the "active displayed" tone so I can use the rotary slow/fast and percussion buttons? My display is showing only the lower tone and the drawbar organ buttons are inactive.
  15. Like any new owner/geek, I have scoured the Internet to find resources for the WK-7600. Between this site's file area, music.casio.com, and Casio's international site, I have amassed hundreds of rhythm (AC7/CKF) files, BUT FEWER THAN 10 CUSTOM TONE (TN7) FILES. Am I missing any other good archives anywhere? This is so totally different than with my last Casio keyboard (CZ-1!) where even in pre-Internet BBS age I could still find way more patches! I'll be a good citizen and post my own when I have gotten more skillful at making custom tones. For now, can anyone point me to tone files at other websites?
