  1. How did you "download them to the XW-P1". If you downloaded them from the site and put them on a SD Card, they need to go into the folder on the SD Card called "MUSICDAT". Once there, put your XW-P1 in Solo Synth mode. Press the MENU button scroll down and find the card menu and load each of the individually. Otherwise just use the Transfer tool in the Data editor. Much faster and easier.
  2. Based on the way you're describing it, I would imagine that the P-140 has the pedal assigned to modulate the Sustain Level. When the pedal is used, the sustain level drops down. When the pedal is not the sustain level stays the same. Sustain level is not a parameter the PX-5S can modulate in real-time. There may be some tricks to simulate this....still trying.
  3. Katie, It can be accomplished and behave the way you want, if you do it using a different method. Rather than setting a pedal (slider or knob) for a Zone On/Off switch, if you set it for a Layer on/off switch (Components of a HexLayer tone) then it works. You can sustain with the pedal and turn off the strings. I'll post an example of this for download.
  4. Katie, What you're asking can be accomplished a couple of different ways. The Sliders, knobs or pedals can function as on/off switches. The behavior works a little different than Kurzweil. To test, I assigned Pedal 2 as the On/Off switch for the strings. If I play and hold a notes and turn off the strings, the string continue to sound as long as I'm holding those keys. The sustain pedal alone will not sustain the strings if the zone is turned off...if the zone is turned off it will only remain playing while the notes are being held.
  5. Sona, I'm sorry I don't have regular access to a PX-330. If however you call Casio support, they can talk you through it. http://www.casio-usa.com/support/contactus/phonenumbers/
  6. The only way to do linear recording is with the Phrase recorder. Create all of your patterns, use the CHAIN feature to build the song. Then you can create a linear Phrase track that goes over the entire piece.
  7. It is possible with Solo Synth or Hex Layer tones to have a higher volume than a regular PCM Piano tone however with the factory presets the levels are fairly equal. Are you in Peformance or Tone mode when this happens?
  8. Leefentress, That sounds very unusual and honestly based on my knowledge of the action I'm not sure how that could happen. There shouldn't be a dramatic difference as you move from one key to the next. I would recommend that you contact your dealer or Casio support. http://www.casio-usa.com/support/contactus/contact/
  9. Fixing this would require me to reprogram most if not all the factory Stage Settings that use Hex Layers. Again the waveform list was changing up until the the very last days before v1.00 was finalized. It is unfortunately a very time intensive process. Waveforms were added throughout the list, so it is not possible to simply change the selection from 100 to 110 as if ten waveforms had been added to the beginning of the list. You'd have to edit each Hex Layer, turn "INIT WAV" to OFF. Turn all layers off except the one you were working on. Listen to the original, then scroll until you found an identical sounding wave...with the proper name.
  10. Not a bug exactly. During the development of the original Stage Settings the number of waveforms available was constantly changing. So lets say a Hex Layer used waveform #100 and lets pretend it was strings. 10 Additional waveforms were added before #100 so now the strings are at #110. If you looked at a Hex Layer that was originally programmed to use #100 for Strings it might now say something else. However the Hex Layer sound still worked although the name and selection appear to be broken.
  11. If you want the layered sound to start at a volume of Zero, you need to set the volume of that zone to 0 then assign your slider to control Volume #7, not Expression #11.
  12. Sure it will. The PX-5S will respond to this over MIDI.
  13. You can playback .wav files from USB, they can not be assigned to the keys.
  14. Personally, the synth sounds on the PX-5S are far superior. Yes a MOX8 may have advantages with acoustic guitar sounds. As far as orchestral, I'm not sure what you've heard but this is an area where we have many more sounds coming. Some direct comparisons between the PX-5S and the MOX8 can be found here: http://forums.musicplayer.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/2465083/51
  15. I would recommend you contact Casio repair: For Repair support in USA at 1-800-706-2534 during regular business hours (currently Monday-Friday 9:00a.m. - 5:00pm EST, Saturday / Sunday 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.)
  16. The PERFORMANCE controls the MIDI assignments. From Performance mode, press EDIT then scroll down and select MIDI. Here you can change the MIDI Out assignment for each part. By default the Step Sequencer parts will be internal only.
  17. Yes, yes and yes. Regarding which sound you're playing live on the keyboard that is up to you however you can only use either the Solo Synth, Hex Layer or Drawbar organ. You can not use more than one of these at at time.
  18. Can you post a picture? If you push down on the key gently what happens? Do NOT attempt to open it up yourself. We can help you find repair options. Let me know where you are located.

A Stage Setting inspired by what was started during Live Clinic #2....although the final product went a different direction. Sliders 1-2 control filter for the pad. Knobs 1-4 control the sound of the arpeggiated part. Enjoy. Audio Demo: https://soundcloud.com/casiomusicgear/casio-px-5s-orbiting

  21. I would also hope that people start using the the RATING and COMMENT sections.
  22. Start with Stage Setting 7-7. Add a little release with Knob 4, adjust the detuning with Knob 1 to taste.

A Hex Layer used for piano. Utilizing 5 layers which slightly different pitch key tracking to create a naturally detuned acoustic piano sound. Great for Ragtime.
