methodman3000
I added a mod wheel to my Ct-x 3000 by loading up a virtual computer keyboard in Bandlab Cakewalk and got it to work with the VST I controlled from the CT-x3000. But is it possible to send the output of that back through the midi out to the casio effectivly imitating a modulation wheel?
Brad Saucier
It's possible in theory, but probably more work than it is worth. Yes, the CT-X series will respond to modulation if it is received over MIDI. You'll have to loop MIDI OUT of the X3000 back to MIDI IN and you'll have to find a way to merge your virtual modulation data with the MIDI OUT data from the X3000. The reason you'll need the loop is due to the multiple sound sources in the X3000. The CT-X3000 and X5000 have a 48 part sound engine rather than the typical 16 parts found on other keyboards. That expanded capability allows the MIDI input to address 16 parts that are fully independent from the 16 that the keyboard is controlling internally. A loopback will allow the keyboard to control the 16 parts that are dedicated to MIDI IN. Several people have already done the loopback with CT-X series models, but I don't know of anyone who has done a MIDI merge with other data.
