AaA500
Hey. My name is Albert I live in the Netherlands in the seaside resort of Hoek van Holland and I am new to the forum. I bought a Casio CT-X5000 and connected it with a USB cable to my computer, now I want to play sound (an audio or midi file) from my computer over the speakers of my Casio CT-X5000 so that I can play along, but that does not work . Does anyone know if I still need to set something or just can't.? I hope for an answer from you. Edited July 25, 2020 by Albert
AteS
Usb is only for midi. For audio you need to connect a audio cable between the audio-out of your source (computer) and the audio - in connector of your ctx. i think it’s also possible to play an audio file from a flashdrive. But i’m not sure, i own a cdp-s350 not a ctx you can read more in the manual of your ctx

Hello Albert you need to use a DAW ( digital audio workstation) in order to play midi file from your computer on your keyboard . There are many free DAW on the internet Reaper is one of those free DAW. I use cakewalk bandlab. You also need a printer cable to connect your keybaord to pc. The other option is to copy the midi file on Musicdat folder of your flash driver and connect the flash drive to USB port on your keyboard. Hope this helps
Frenq
For the record, Reaper is not free!!! You need to pay a license fee of $60 after testing it for two mounths.
Jokeyman123
Several DAWs are available on the web and are considered "freeware" Reaper is not one of those, yes it is meant to be supported for $60.00 US. Try Anvil Studio-the freeware version of Cakewalk Bandlab yes is free to use. I use a very old but surprisingly powerful simple little DAW called Jazzware if you can find it. if you want to try Rosegarden-originally developed for Linux but available on Windows platforms now-a very evolved and deep program and still freeware the last I looked. AaA500
Hey. Sorry to respond so late but I was on vacation for a few days... I connected the keyboard (CT-X5000) to the PC with a USB cable (printer cable) and thought it should work... I had a Yamaha keyboard and it was connected to the computer in exactly the same way and with the same cable and was recognized by the computer as external speakers so you could play an audio or midi and mp3 and the sound came over the speakers of the keyboard... That way you could play along with the audio from the computer... If I understand correctly then that will not work with the Casio CT-X5000.? The keyboard is also not recognized by the computer as external speakers...
Brad Saucier
Hi Albert. The USB to host port on the CT-X5000 is for MIDI only. It does not support audio. For audio, you can copy WAV files to a USB flash drive and play the files using the onboard audio player.
AaA500
Hey... Okay, thank you all for the comments... It is not really a problem, but it would have been easy if possible... I will copy the audio files to a USB flash drive that works... Thanks for the information...
