FlashyEagle8 Posted March 8, 2021 Posted March 8, 2021 How to use the Pitch-Bend Wheel ? i know that you can Press Up or Down the wheel, but how to proceed ? Should i push it Up or Down, and (release) let it go back to the Center (Mid Wheel) ? Then when Bending, should it be slight before the last note / After Touch up to the End and slight after After Touch ? or just Bending only from the After Touch note ? On the other hand, on keyboard, just above that Pitch Bend Wheel, there's that Button "Assign Mod"...i've tried it and its "bending" like the Wheel. Now, i dont know the difference between those 2 features ! Can someone explains me these two ? Thanks Quote
Brad Saucier Posted March 8, 2021 Posted March 8, 2021 I can't think of anyone better to teach pitch bend than the master. Quote

I didnt mean from a Professional aspect, but just to use the tools correctly ! Anyway, I'll still have a glance at it, to be familiar with that Wheel ! Thanks a lot tho ! Just glanced it just visually (coz at work), but that Guy has a Sewing Machine Bend XD With all kind of Knobs, which reminded me of the Yamaha PSR E463 and actually, the Korg EK 50 had the Full Joystick for pitchBend and Modulator (up/ down Right-Left) i'll watch and listen it, later ! it looks impressive so far ! FlashyEagle8 Posted November 8 Author Posted November 8 Hi Its been a while not showing up here but decided ²to work over this ''Topic''. Byw, i re-read and rewatchedthe content aboutd Brad's video and it's still quite h1rdstuff to u derstand coz its too technically complex and i think it was meant for inter-expert musicians. Anyway, i've been searching around and'found'this Video. My wish is to try playing guitar barely like him. Although, i know ues an expert. Now, im,trying to see'details on how to do it. At first i thougut with both hands, but ended up by figuring out, its just right hand playing and left hand using the Pitch/bend. Nos i have no clues in which type of Casio Guitar this kind of thing can be done. But it looks to me, that ''that guitar is is like some FrontDrive GT (Not sure), but fore sure those Sdorpions, metallica, guns 'n rose, clapton, hendrix GT...and at some point, its just a Solo Guitar playing over a Song. What type of Guitars from Casio should i use for pitch/bend. then if u play sith noth hands or just one. And maybe some useful techniques and options from Casio's Functions to be done in order to come the closest to a ''natural'' crying Guitar sound and style. At least zomething acceptzble((correct)and not horrible (or stupi, like kids would do). So wana try sopething simple that be like it ! If any ideas, please just let me know. Thanks Quote
Brad Saucier Posted November 8 Posted November 8 I don't think he is playing any guitar in that video. The guitar seems to be a backing track. In the second half he switches to what sounds like a synth lead tone with DSP distortion and amp simulation of some type. To get that rock sound, it's about the DSP distortion, overdrive and amp simulation. I also didn't hear him use the pitch bend wheel, only the modulation button. To your question, using a pitch bend wheel, you would play notes only with your right hand, using your left to control the pitch bend wheel and/or modulation button. Use the wheel sparingly, mostly upwards bends, short bends. It's all about timing the bend with the notes. Keep in mind also, the DSP distortion effect works best whenever 2 notes play together in harmony. Quote

I really thought it was guitar and then'something else, coz he was still striming with 2 hands and sometime just a button on the left and a free right hand ! Thanks for brightening me things out coz its still all new for me In the second half he switches to what sounds like a synth lead tone with DSP distortion and amp simulation of some type. That's right and thanks for analysing me the sound'from this Video. For backing up, u were absolutely right. Coz seen znother vieeo, actually set in that same studio but with 4 keyboards around him...znd played, the guitar on other one but not'the wmain One settled in Front like my first video, and ofc the whole thing was amazing but at the end i just realised he's somekind of Ghost composer for Epid soundtrzck and stuff Anyway. Your DSP feature. I think, that's what i was searching for ages, coz the wheel bend wasnt just it, coz by default, with sprcialosed DSP correspinding to the Tone it already gzve that ''strimming FX'' wo wheel bend. Then yes ofc, wheel bend juzt give the curvy strim to maoe more realistic. But as u szid. It could,be done with wheel or Modul2rion knob or both... Now for wmodulation, ive somehow understood it puzt be copbined to wheel to give the natural fading reverb after, but not sure. Tbh, could,u explain me what does ''modulation'' tho, kindof forget those basics stuff after a long absence... 1 hour ago, Brad Saucier said: To your question, using a pitch bend wheel, you would play notes only with your right hand, using your left to control the pitch bend wheel and/or modulation button. Thanks to recall me that what i somw thiught was right for the R hand playing and left bending Now for the wheel bend, thanks for oointintpg me out, thats in Upper wheel and not from Mid-center to Down ! As for DSP, is there'some list about it sk thar i can follow to produce the Real Guitar sound strimming ? Ofc, the Tones' type of Guitars that benefit of their DSP ? Ok from little k'owledge, wah, crunch, Ovd GT. Amp GR, DST GT, FrtOv GTand HardRock. Mtl GT. ig. But not sure Anyway thanks for'u helpful, load of interestingv info Have a nice day, Brad ! 1 hour ago, Brad Saucier said: Quote
