stevie331
Has anybody succeeded in connecting their CT S-1000V to a windows laptop to use Ableton with it. I can't get my laptop to recognize the keyboard with my USB cable? Ta Steve
Brad Saucier
The answer depends on what you are looking for with the USB connection. Several have assumed it is an audio connection. It is for MIDI only.
stevie331
Hi Brad , I raised a ticket with Ableton who said that I could use it as a midi controller if laptop recognized the USB connection. Failing that i would use it connected to laptop to go through a larger set of powered speakers-I looked in my settings and didn't seem as though laptop recognized it-wondered if it needed a particular cable for connection using USB connection or if there was a better alternative? Brad Saucier
It is possible the USB cable is not the correct type. Some cables are only wired for charging devices. The cable needs to be capable of data transfer in order to function with the CT-S1000V. It's probably a good idea to confirm this cable is capable of data transfer with another device before using it with the keyboard.
Mike Martin
@stevie331what @Brad Sauciersaid is accurate. 99% of the time if the device is not showing up, it is because the USB cable does not support data - only charging.
stevie331
That's great thanks everyone-Yes Ableton came back and said that too -Should I just search for a USB cable that supports data transfer ? I would need USB A to USB C
Brad Saucier
Just to be clear, the USB Type A (to device) port on the CT-S1000V is not for computer connection. That port is only for a USB flash drive or the Casio WU-BT10 wireless adapter. To connect to your Windows laptop, make sure you're using the Micro USB Type B (to host) port on the CT-S1000V.
