Display Name
Wow - this thread is up to 7 pages! That's a lot of Casio keyboards out in the wild!My share of the week is this video by Summer Grace, a young singer / songwriter, doinga rendition of "Eternal Flame". For this song, she uses the a Rhodes stage setting fromVintage Keys expansion pack.
Larry
From youtube:"Young man comes across the synth of his childhood. Absolutely nails the demo-track." Edit/added:This looks to be a Casio Tone Bank CT-670, and im not 100% shure the guy is really playing it but it looks legit. Below is a good demo as well. Brad Saucier
A new Casio PX-150 on The Goldbergs tonight. Looks like they were short on actual 80's Casio's for this one.
Brad Saucier
Two things to point out about that ^^^^. The show is set in the 80's. We clearly see the USB midi port on the keyboard. No usb in the 80s...duh. And how many X-stands were floating around in the 80's? I don't remember seeing any.
Display Name
That's Stephan DeReine on the PX-5S. You can see him in the Casio NAMM video ripping on the PX-5S. Very talented guy.
Mr_Spaghetti
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGB59HuKu-I Here's 10CC playing Art for Art's Sake. No Casio keyboards but you get to see Casio's booth setup and a banner at the 1982 International Music Show at 0:13.
Mr_Spaghetti
Here's Kim Wilde's cover of "Keep Me Hanging On" on Peter's Pop Show in 1984, according to the title. The guy on the left seems to be pretending to play a Casio CZ1 or CZ5000, but didn't those come out in 1985?
Chas
Here's Kim Wilde's cover of "Keep Me Hanging On" on Peter's Pop Show in 1984, according to the title. The guy on the left seems to be pretending to play a Casio CZ1 or CZ5000, but didn't those come out in 1985? I'm pretty sure the CZ3000/ 5000 models were released in 1985, and the CZ-1 was released in 1986. The year 1984 in the video description is incorrect as Kim Wilde's version of the song wasn't released until 1986:""You Keep Me Hangin' On" was covered in an updated version by British singer Kim Wilde in 1986. It was released as the second single from Wilde's Another Step album (although "You Keep Me Hangin' On" was the LP's first worldwide single, as the first single had been released only in selected countries)." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/You_Keep_Me_Hangin%27_On
Chas
Jarvis Cocker of Britpop band PULP, showing how he wrote one of their biggest hits - "Common People" - on his Casio MT500, and also saying how much he loves the little keyboard!
Chas
There's actually a whole documentary on Pulp and their song "Common People", with Jarvis' MT 500 making a number of appearances. Here's part 2 (well worth watching the whole 6 parts by the way):
Brad Saucier
This is very clever! It's a youtube video and not TV or movies but it's too good not to share. He shows how it's done at the end.
