dama
Tinnitus sucks big time. I know others that have it bad also. I get the ringing occasionally and fortunately it doesn't last too long. I need to be very mindful of playing too loud, especially when I use my headphones. I believe the high frequencies of my organ sounds (on my Nord) could be the culprit. It's hard sometimes to monitor how loud I'm getting and I get a bit carried away. Usually I notice it happening after playing and I'll try to be more aware the next time I play. Also if my monitor cabinet is too close to me when playing with the band, I will notice then also. Both my parents wear hearing aids and are in their early eighties. They have never played music loud. It's kind of scary : (
Jokeyman123
I've had to deal with this too, a major concern for me. I think its from the compression of the sounds with headphones as this seems to aggravate it. And i agree also about the high frequency sounds-as a drummer for many years, surprisingly had no trouble except with cymbal overtones, i had to use earplugs to keep the tinnitus from recurring when playing in loud venues. It also comes and goes without apparent cause, although it also might be from sinus problems (I've been checked by at least one doctor). It can be quite serious and can lead to deafness. If you seem to get worse over time (lasts longer, gets louder) I'd go to an ear specialist-in the US these doctors are called "ENT"-ear, nose and throat specialists If you clench your teeth from stress (teaching music and playing clubs can be stressful yes!)-this can also trigger tinnitus. I've been treated for this and it seems to help. Hope this helps Mau Van, you want to take care of your hearing I'm sure.
Howard Collingsworth
Do you take aspirin? It is a known cause of tinnitus in some folks.

maarkr
wear foam earplugs when playing live, sit across the stage from acoustic drums, practice/mix at low volumes, don't shoot at the gun range or be near other hi-db machinery... an ad by a product called lipo-flavinoid says they cure it, but who knows... I have it mildly from years of flying jet aircraft.

Arpaul1958
Hello Mau - tinnitus is not fun. I have had it in each ear at various times from reaction to pharmaceuticals ( as Howard mentioned above )and from exposure to loud noise . The only time it started in both ears at the same time was when I had a pinched nerve in my neck. I hope you find a solution, Cheers Rob
