Jokeyman123
Wondering if anybody here can give me their feedback on the older Casio CDP-100 digital piano and possibly a comparison to the newer PX series? I've studied the .pdf manual and have become familiar with its features. I also own and play the PX-350 regularly. I've just purchased a used CDP-100 as the price was impossible (for me at least!) to pass up and I may be gifting it to someone else if it is anywhere near as nice as the PX350 in terms of key action and acoustic piano samples. Brad Saucier
Here is a nice video review. Looks like a great board.
Joe Muscara
I had the Radio Shack version, DP-4073 I think. It was a pretty nice board. I sold it when I got the PX-3. It was a pretty nice board, though I like the action on later Casios better. It's a great board for some, and can be found for a great price. Jokeyman123
Sounds better than i thought. Will be gifting to my brother the bass player. As long as the action is decently weighted and balanced, close to the PX350, should be real nice. Thanks Joe and Brad.
Jokeyman123
OK, just got the CDP-100. Very nice-tore into it right away (is used no warranty)-based on a post I found on Youtube .The action is the same as the PX-350 inside, same steel fulcrum arms but there the similarities end, not in a bad way. The keys are not textured, but same length and throw. Have a nice feel. I think it is using the same tri-samples as my PX but need to listen more carefully. Sounds excellent, very realistic throughout the range-good balanced sound in all octaves, unbelievable at this price (paid under 200 bucks). Speakers sound better on PX-350-the CDP only has 2 small rear-facing, the PX has 4-2 rear facing and 2 small firing out the top but it still has more than adequate volume for at-home practice/performing. Now the best part-both the top and bottom felt strips are easily accessible by removing only one part-a plastic panel underneath that removes with 2 rows of screws-i took it apart in less than 5 minutes. Although the felt bumpers were in pretty nice shape, there was some compression-the bottom strip is attached to the plastic part that comes off and the top felt strip (most offending sound on the PX350) which bears the brunt of your piano playing downstroke and also the key bottom-is right there. I am adding some felt to that-the other one where the keys rest upon return makes very little noise-I will leave it as it is. So overall guys, another very nice product from Casio-my brother wants to learn the keys, works with some top-notch keyboard players down the NJ shore, I don't think he'll have to be "embarrassed" by the Casio brand, I'll be getting it to him ASAP. Might open up a few more ears down there!
