tam2000k2
Hey everyone, I have recently purchased a Casio MG-510 1987 guitar controller via eBay and a Casio WK-3500 sequencer/keyboard via Guitar Center. While I can hear the notes and see the notes being played on the display of my WK-3500, when I play the guitar controller (MG-510). And when I play keys on the WK-3500, I can hear the notes through any VST within Cubase. However, when I play the guitar controller, the midi information is not being transferred all the way to the VST within Cubase. Does the Casio WK-3500 have a "midi thru" setting? If so, then please give me a step by step instructions to do so. Thanks in advance
Brad Saucier
Very cool ebay find! Unfortunately, I don't think the WK-3500 has a midi thru function. The out jack would be labeled out/thru if it did.
Display Name
I can confirm the WK-3500 has no MIDI "soft" thru via the MIDI out port. You will have to use your audio interface to connect the MG's MIDI to your computer. If you want to use the WK and MG simultaneously you will need some kind of merge box. tam2000k2
First, thanks to both of you for your response, it is greatly appreciated. Sometimes I feel all alone on this big blue marble, when it comes to speaking midi with anyone. To give a little more background on what started me down this path:I have tried to use Mio midi to usb, in order to connect directly with the VST within Cubase. However, when I bend notes on the MG, then it produces a trilled sound (several notes in a row). I watched a video of someone addressing this exact issue and he had his MG plugged directly into his WK, along with having his MG's midi set to normal. This is why I purchased the used WK. The other issue that I had was, that when I was directly linking the MG to my computer, I found latency when I played very fast solos, which once again, the guy in the video showed there was no latency when he plugged directly into his WK. Another reason why I purchased the WK. That is why I was hoping for some kind of setting within the WK that would change the midi in to a midi thru. From there, I was hoping the WK would interpolate the bends and fast staccato like performances that the VST would understand properly. When you mentioned "merge box," I googled it and found the iConnectMIDI4. Do you think that I can connect my MG into the iConnectMIDI4, then out to the Mio and it will account for bending the strings and fast solos without latency? Brad Saucier
Are you on Windows or Mac? I'm thinking the latency is in the computer audio processing rather than midi.
Display Name
Was the keyboard in the video also a WK-3500? If so you may want to message him thru YouTube and see how he did it. As far as the note bending issue.. Not sure how that works. One way to see what's going on is to install a MIDI monitor program (several free ones out there) and see exactly what data the MG is sending. tam2000k2
Thanks once more for both of you responding and sorry that it has taken so long for me to reply I am on a Mac mini late 2012 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB What about the "merge box" that was mentioned earlier? Do you think that I can connect my MG into the iConnectMIDI4, then out to the Mio and it will account for bending the strings and fast solos without latency?
