  1. Amazing work Doug!! (Especially the 3 bar sweep. How on earth did you do that? ) Thank you so much! I really hope you get a chance to post some more songs. :-)

This is a stage setting for the Star Wars Cantina Band song. It is not intended to be a replica of the instrumentation used in the film recording, but rather an attempt to capture the flavour of the piece which will work on both (Han) solo piano and in a (cantina) band. It has a wah clav, steel drum & marimba mixed together on top and a synth bass on the bottom. I have gigged this song and this sound quite a bit and it tends to get a good reception. I hope you might like it. May the force be with you........ :-) Here is a demo: https://soundcloud.com/body-and-soul-jazz/starwarscantinasswav/s-YAurF

This is my version of a full pipe church organ. It uses two zones, but the second is only to make the lowest note of the keyboard play an A5 (for use - should you wish - in Bach's Tocatta in Dm... ;-) ) Please me know if you wish me to upload another version with just one zone... I have gigged this sound a lot and it sounds amazing through a PA. Here is a demo (with my apologies to Bach....) https://soundcloud.com/body-and-soul-jazz/pipe-organ-stage-settingwav/s-NJ2nI

This is one of my favourite PX sounds. :-) An attempt to capture the old 2 tone police siren. This stage setting is a result of a collaboration between myself and Brad. (Many thanks Brad!) It has the siren sound at the bottom of the PX and the analogue lead sound from the Vintage keys pack at the top. The siren has been detuned so is particularly effective if played over the top of the rest of the band.... :-) Here is a demo: https://soundcloud.com/body-and-soul-jazz/sirensswav/s-db9U9

This is my stage setting for Crocodile Rock., The keyboard is split into two, with a rock piano sound at the bottom and a saw sound at the top end for the distinctive Croc Rock riffs. This sound has worked quite well for me but I am always keen to make it better. Any comments / suggestions / improvements extremely welcome. Here is a demo of the sound: https://soundcloud.com/body-and-soul-jazz/crocadile-rock-stage-setting/s-1bQkl

This is my Stage setting for nights in white satin. I normally play it in a band without a guitar, so I sometimes play a simple piano accompaniment to the iconic strings riffs. The PX is divided into 3 zones: piano at the bottom, strings in the middle & flute at the top. The challenge was to get the strings sounding right: neither too legato or too detached, and with the right amount of swell. What I have done has worked for me so far, but doubtless can be improved upon. Any suggestions/coments welcome! I have recorded an audio file of the strings & flute for you to hear: https://soundcloud.com/body-and-soul-jazz/nights-in-white-satin-sswav/s-MR8sy I will be pleased if this is of use to someone.
  7. Hello. I have been asked to recommend a keyboard for one of my piano students. It really needs to be as cheap as possible. Please could you recommend which one(s) To get. They may need to get a second hand one. Am I correct in thinking that any PX keyboard, no matter how old, would be suitable? (ie weighted keys, pedal, reasonable touch....) Thank you.
  8. You could also, if you wish, set it so that when you press pedal 2 it brings in the brass sound. (Hands free version). :-)
  9. ..........yes...........my manual........
  10. Hi Horse. I find those two keyboards make an excellent combination. I mostly use the Vr09 for organs - which it does really well, and the PX for pretty well everything else. I am using them in a ska band and a function band. I have not used the PX as a controller for the roland - if that is what you mean. My grip on technology is a bit tenuous ATM so I tend to keep everything simple. Besides, I want the unweighted keys for my organ playing. I am sure you will be delighted with this combintiaon. BTW - I got my stand from Thomann. Good luck in your search.
  11. I have the same keyboards as you! :-) I have a K&M 18880 & 18882. it is a great stand, lightweight & portable and no X frame to get in the way of your pedals. (It should particularly suit you as it is a very stable stand....... ;-) ) However, as you do not need something light & portable you may find something else which is cheaper. Whatever you do, do NOT get the Proel SPL152 .....It is unbelievably bad & annoying...... :-(
  12. Ah Brad - you are beginning to see the light! Size definitely matters with iPads - so get as much memory as you can. Second hand should be fine as long as it works ok. They seem to not go wrong in my experience (and if anyone can make things go wrong, it is me - as you know.....), so perhaps the warranty is less important than for other electrical things. I have an old iPad 1 with a cracked screen which is still great. The cracked screen is fine too - you don't notice it when the iPad is turned on. You might get a big discount on one which is a bit battered. My old one can no longer take any of the new apps, but it still does what it does very well. Obviously the newer your iPad is, the more you will be able to do with it, but I can still use old versions of midi designer and set list maker on my old iPad, for instance.
