PX560 Recording splits/layers w/song recorder

Need a little clarity re midi song recorder with the PX560.  

 

1) Can I record a split or layer tone combination in the system track when using the song recorder?

2) Does this have to be saved to a registration first to do that if it can be done at all? 

A little confused as to how a registration works with the song recorder. Example-if I select 2 different organ tones as a split or layer from the main menu screen-can I now record 2 different (2 hand) parts at once in the system track-or layer these 2 different tones and record both in the system track in one pass or will the recorder only recognize one of the tones, whether I save this configuration as a registration or not?  Even with the manual, I am not too clear as to how registrations interact with the midi song recorder, or if I need to use/save a registration in order to record a split or layer.  Brad? Help?

1) Yes

2) It can be done either way.  The system track records every button you press, every tone you change as system exclusive controller data along with your note data.
