mojo247
Hi guys, I’ve had my PX-200 since 2008, it has never missed a beat. Last year at the start of 2020 my PX-200 had a fault with 4 particular keys right across the board ( I think they were C, C#, F, F# for example) long story short, the guy fixed them and happy days or so I thought. since I got it back, It lost the sustain function altogether. At first I thought it might be the pedal, a square plastic generic cheapie, which had never missed a beat until then, so I left it until now to take the pedal apart and have a look to see what might be the problem. After taking it apart and spraying it with contact cleaner, and fader lube, I tested it on the Privia and no dice. HOWEVER, when I tested it in my Technics KN930 it works like a charm. So I’m starting to think it might be the input or the board inside, or a faulty chip or cap etc. has this happened to anyone before? Is it a common fault etc? Any advice or suggestions would be most welcome Thankyou, -Joe
Brad Saucier
Wow, one of the very first Privia models, awesome! Well, I might try cleaning inside the jack with a Q tip dipped in alcohol, and shine a light in there and see if anything looks odd about it. I've seen things get stuck inside the jack before. Jokeyman123
Whoeve repaired the keys-might have jostled a connector or cable inside loose. If cleaning the jack doesn't work, have to look inside. could be a simple slder break in the jack mounted to the board inside-a common problem since the simple motion of using the jack can break the solder joints inside in time-I've repaired quite a few keyboards like this.
mojo247
Hi guys, thankyou for all your support and advice, I just got the piano back from repairs and it was a loose crimped connection that was re-crimped, and the sustain jack was re-soldered. It’s working great again and I couldn’t be happier. Thankyou once again, this forum rocks!
