woodman Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 Hi Is it possible to do pitch bend using a pedal instead of the wheel (basically assign pitch bend functionality to a pedela - so I can use it without using up a hand)? Thanks Quote
Just Alex Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 I guess it depends on the pedal type - these are pedals with on/off switch (most common) and ones with adjustable resistor inside. The 2nd should do the trick... Quote
Brad Saucier Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 Even with a continuous type pedal, it's not possible since pitch bend is not part of the standard set of 127 MIDI CC messages. It is a specific controller message not part of the assignable parameter list in the MZ-X series. External MIDI based solutions would be the only way. Quote
Just Alex Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 Technically this is solvable. But there's need to have computer running. There are some midi softwares, which can convert one type of midi cc to another. Something like MidiPipe or whatever. It takes one type of MIDI message and converts to another. So you set your pedal to transmit some less used MIDI CC, and the software converts it to pitch bend. Or another way is to upgrade to Yamaha - while I don't remember which model exactly, but there was product video on youtube, where guy used pedal for pitch bending, to play realistic guitar sounds on Yamaha keyboard. It was something from Tyros or Genos series, if not mistaken. Quote
