Alle Fish
Hi everyone!I have some problem with mono output of XWP1. I never had trouble but one day suddenly stopped working, I checked jacks and other outputs like headphones and goes correctly. I turned up both keyboard and amp volumes but you can hear a very weak sound . What's going on?? Thanks all!
Brad Saucier
Maybe try a different cable and connect to a different amp.
Alle Fish
I tried with Montarbo and Warwick amps, hi and low gain with 3 different cables but results are the same:No sound with l/mono output , sound with headphones output
Peter
Sometimes I have the same problem, with a difference that I use both exits for stereo. Now I can't remember was that the right or the left which didn't work, I don't want to try reproducing the problem. I changed the cables, changed the amp, but I hear sound only in one speaker, the other is almost mute. Currently everything works fine, though. Null
Sounds like you should check the mixer settings. They may have been changed. Sure fire diagnostic is to perform a factory reset to make sure nothiing got screwed up in the settings. If it still doesn't work after a reset then it's a hardware problem and should go in for service. Take advantage of the warranty if yours is still valid. Peter
I had a blunt solution to this problem: crank the volume up, and play some loud chords, and voila, the speaker is on again. Weird.
Display Name
Alle - if the above suggestions don't work, some gunk may have got in the jack so it can't make a clean contact. It's rare, but it can happen.Try this: Unplug the keyboard and take the batteries out, dip a q-tip in some rubbing alcohol and swab around inside the jack. Wait a minute or two for it to dry out before plugging it back in.
Null
If it's under warranty ignore Scott's suggestion. Don't use any fluids on your XW. If it's out of warranty and you're feeling brave, pop it open and look for a cracked solder contact where the jack is attached to the PCB. If you spot a bad solder joint then take a hot soldering iron and melt and reflow the solder connecting the jack. Be careful not to overheat the contact or you will melt the board. Again, do this ONLY if out of warranty and ONLY if you are comfortable disassembling and reassembling electronic gear. Gary

Brad Saucier
Interesting solution. Perhaps something needed blowing out. LOL I can't help but wonder why that worked.

Maybe it's like turning up the pressure in a garden hose... enough pressure and BAM!

Null
Reality check people. This time of year it could be a thermal overload that corrected itself once the weather cooled down or it could be an intermittent cold/cracked solder joint that happens to work coincidentally when it's moved or vibrated. Fixing a blown output circuit is NOT like blowing out a sewer line with compressed air. Once a component begins to die it's only a matter of time until a full and complete failure. Display Name
Not really related, but kind of, sort of:I have found using right angle plugs takes the stress of the jacks. As I add new and replace old cables, I am getting ones with right angled plugs almost exclusively.
Null
Actually that's VERY related. A lot depends on how often the instrument is moved and disconnected/reconnected. If you're constantly fiddling with the cabling then right angled plugs are very much less strain on the cheap plastic jacks which are soldered directly onto the printed circuit board. One thing I can say about electronic keyboards. They LOVE to sit under a dust cover in a nice dry studio and never be moved. They absolutely HATE being thrown around by peyote crazed roadies with cargo hooks :D Gary

Jokeyman123
Simple-turning up the volume created a synchronous loop between the CPU and the Rom chip responsible for creating a unity gain between Pluto and Earth (little known Casio patent). This and due to the amorphous nature of the synthetic materials used in the mainboard. I wouldn't do this too often as it will simulate the mating call of Mothman, who may fly off with your Casio, yer amp and all yer cables. maarkr
nothing was mentioned about trying the R output only. Wasn't there some posts about using the R output as a mono out instead of the L for multiple keyboard use?

Jokeyman123
Nice pic Dave! Looks like me at my last duo gig. maybe that's why the audience fled for the exit signs. Time to get a new guitar player, i hate directing these gigs, I need a new hat!
