Organuts
I have a PX5S togetheer with a SK1 as upper keyboard. I programmed a couple of studio sets to trigger the SK1 from the PX5S. But even if I switch off "Prog & Bank Out" for all 4 zones the PX5S keeps on sending program changes. Is this a bug or what am I doing wrong? Could somebody verify this behaviour? Many thanks! Display Name
Hi and welcome to the Casio Forums. Try this: SYSTEM SETTINGS ---> MIDI ----> STAGE SET CHANGE ---> Then set to NRPN. Let me know if that works!
Organuts
Works! Any idea why the PX5S still would send program change if Prog & Bank Out is set to "OFF"? Anway, this workaround helps. Thank you!

Thank you! I think the Prog/Bank Out in the Stage setting controls program change information about the zone only. I will ask in the Facebook Group and see if someone there knows the answer. Display Name
Did you have the PROG / BANK CHANGE off in all the Stage Settings you were switching between?
Organuts
Yes, I switched all Stage Settings I am using to Midi PROG / BANK CHANGE off. But only your workaround helped to really swich it off. Many thanks again!
Michael Gleason
Reading this and experimenting on the PX-3 it's ridiculous. This instrument wll not allow you to turn off midi program change. Really?..What if you want to perform live and change multiple programs on the PX-3 with the same program on your midi device. Maybe it's not compatible to assign program numbers too. Crazy.... Michael Gleason
I do see the work around above but I cannot find out how to get to "System Settings" so I can proceed with MIDI ----> STAGE SET CHANGE ---> Then set to NRPN. Can you help? I don't see "Systems Settings" anywhere in the manual of the PX-3. I know it's old but it suits my needs and I bought one of the first ones that is a special edition or something...Please let me know if you can direct me how to get to "System Settings" so I can turn off the program change commands. Thanks.
Michael Gleason
Oh and mine is a PX-3, please help I have a gig Friday night and it messes me up when it changes the program on the old module. I am only using it for two sounds so I don't want it to change the programs. In the old days it was as simple as turning off program change. That's what I did with my Korg Triton.....Thanks in advance for getting back to me and making me want to purchase another Casio product! lol. Brad Saucier
The PX-5S is quite different from the PX-3 or PX-3S, with a ton of improvements all around. PX-3 "registrations" were replaced by "stage settings" on the PX-5S. The system settings button on the PX-5S is similar to the function menu on the PX-3. You won't find the stage setting change parameter on the PX-3. Unless I missed something, I'm pretty sure the PX-3 will always send bank and program changes. Have you tried having the receiving device filter out the program change messages?
Jokeyman123
Anatek makes an add-in small box that can be set to various midi filters-in their pocket pedal series, but it is designed for midi DIN ports, not usb. Google it, I can't link directly to a vendor for it. Eb*** usually has alot of Anatek listings, there may be other vendors. If the PX3s has midi din ports (I think it does) this should solve the problem. Attached is the manual so you can read the specs........................ Midi Solutions also makes a small midi DIN box they call a router that can do what you need, but it is expensive and seems more complex to set up-needs to be programmed by computer software before using. The only other solution I can think of would be to connect the PX3s to another midi tone module or keyboard (just what you need on a gig, another keyboard ow!) that has a filter function using thru ports to allow for key on messages to pass through but no program changes, there are such keyboards that will do this but now Its getting a bit heavy-handed for such a simple function I guess. pocket-filter-operating-instructions.pdf
Michael Gleason
Thanks Jokeyman123 and Brad, I will try to get that filter. I don't play as much so get by with my Triton, old MU-50 module and the PX-3. Maybe I need to consider buying some new stuff but for 7-8 gigs a year doesn't seem worth it. lol. Thanks again!
