Brad Saucier
Is this brand new out of the box? Try these things.... -Check page en-12 of the manual and make sure local control is on. -Double check the volume knob is up -Try plugging in some headphones that you know works on other devices. Joe Muscara
Sure, it could happen. You can probably get help or a replacement if necessary at the store where you bought it.
Hugh O Kelly
The local midi must be on
Jokeyman123
If there is a factory reset procedure for the CDP130, try that too. and yes I agree, it could be defective out of the box. If you return it, I would ask to try the replacement in the store, in case there were a batch of defective CDPs. Not likely but possible. sslyutov
What output do you use? If headphones connected it mutes the loudspeakers. One way or another you should get sound from internal speakers or headphones. Check the volume knob. Does the Demo button work? Section Local Control page 12 describes how to turn off and on built-in speakers. In any mode, you should be able to hear sound through the headphones (and/or external speakers if you have them connected ).
Brad Saucier
Oh man. I'm failing. The demo button! That was one of my standard answers for something like this and I totally forgot to mention it. Definitely try the demo button.
sslyutov
let know whether you have solved the problem. I did not hear about a major failure like this. CDP has a few downsides - loud keys, short sustain and unusual sound ( it does not sound like any real piano - to me) At the same time, it is robust, very responsive, easy to use, light, etcetera. Four years ago it was coming with 3 years factory warranty, which is just awesome.
