  1. Chandler, I am going to use your method to tweak the piano sound. As remarkable as the preset pianos are for the price, I don't think they are bright enough. I tried layering preset 1 and 2 and set knob one for layer balance and knob 2 for detuning. That helped a lot, along with some reverb, but I think most would not like the way the overtones of both sound clash with each other somewhat. I want the treble range of the piano to "sing" like my grand piano does, and I do think it can happen somehow, at least to some extent. The treble is just dead in the presets.
  2. Love My Lenovo M10 Android Tablet. I bought it specifically for the Casio but I'm using it for lots of other stuff too, even as a TV!
  3. I bought the cover from Amazon that HavingFun recommended up above and I LOVE it! It looks really good, is easy to take on and off and comes with a little bag that I leave hanging in the closet. THANKS!
  4. I you like Android, My Lenovo M10 works great with Chordana Play for Piano. I bought it just for the Casio and it turns out I love using it the rest of the day too!
  5. Thanks Brian, It took me a few readings to understand, but I see how valuable this could be on solo gigs. I appreciate you sending it up, I may give it a try.
  6. Late to the Party, but my Lenovo M10 works great with Chordana Play For Piano.
  7. You guys are out of control. And I LOVE it!
  8. I guess the problem I had was that Chordana Play For Piano was a Cloud program on my Lenovo Android Tablet -- So at work (a music room in the basement) I couldn't get access to the program itself. I probably could have gotten it on my phone with cellular data though.
  9. And of course I'm the guy who is going to ask how you check your firmware version!
  10. On mine I find 001 noticeably, but only slightly, brighter than 003. But I am using i-Loud speakers. I also find 001 generally not bright enough for my taste, and I often use 002. But I have also saved registrations where I layered 001 with 002 or a stage piano (004) which is very bright. I use layer balance on a knob to mix in a bit of brighter piano with the 001 piano. Of course you can always tweak the EQ on 001, which I haven't tried yet. BTW I have the px-S3000, I don't know if you have the px-S1000, and you might not have access to the features I have. In any case, there are a lot of pianos in there!
  11. Thanks, Patrick, I will check out DSP 53 and see what the difference is. You are correct about the fact that you can't mix and match unless they are in the same preset chain, I had forgotten that. Such an amazing instrument. It would benefit so much from a library editor!
  12. So, am I to understand that the difference between DSPs 16 + 17 (Rotary vs. Drive Rotary) is that the second can add overdrive distortion? I guess you could use both at the same time, which would be weird. Ideally, I would like to control the Rotary speed with the expression pedal, but I assume this is not possible and has to be done with a knob? What about using an assignable foot pedal (separate from the SP-34 which I have) just to engage a programmed gradual speed up or slow down of thew rotary?
  13. Thanks for this! It's much easier to read some of these electronically than those fold-out monstrosities!
Thanks, Rich! These sounds are absolutely phenomenal, some of the best I've ever heard from a keyboard. Really appreciate you describing how you did these in the Tone Editing video. I'll never reach that level of creativity, but I always will appreciate a true craftsman!
  14. Sorry to hear of your issue and thanks for the heads up. How long is the warranty? I've never even checked the warranty on any Casio product because I've never had any problems with them, but your issue is terrible.
Thanks so much for sharing your sounds! I'm always on a quest for different piano sounds for different situations! EDIT 8/10/20: I just wanted to let you know that I mostly play classical, and your area 4 sound has become my go-to! I always pump up the brilliance all the way, and add reverb to taste depending on what the material is that I am playing. Thanks SOOO much, it is way better than the factory presets. FYI, originally I wanted a brighter piano, so I layered Gr piano 1 and Gr piano 2. I set knob 1 to layer balance so I could adjust brightness, and knob 2 to detune them from each other. It is interesting, but I won't upload it to share with everyone because the overtone conflict between the two sounds can be a little odd unless you tweak it just right. Maybe I should be working with the EQ on one sound instead, but the treble range doesn't "sing" enough, that's why I love your tweaks!
Thanks very much for your sounds AND your insights! I'd love to get some good Hammond/Leslie splits going with rotary speed change control.
Great Sounds! Thanks so much. Agree with other reviewer that we need some Hammond/Leslie. I'll give it a shot.
  15. The other complication there is that you have to have internet/wi-fi for Chordana. "On the fly" may suggest you are on gigs, and Chordana would be a wild card.
  16. I also wanted to ask about this. I've had access to two PX-S3000's. One I ordered for a music classroom at work. More recently I bought one for home. The one at work definitely got a lot of dust/oily fingerprints on it -- and I'm not even sure if those stains would come off, and I'm not sure what I would use to remove them. You know how some plastic stuff just kind of deteriorates over time? Unfortunately I never got to test cleansers because COVID-19 abruptly shut my classroom for the year. So, I am wondering if any others have seen a deterioration to the plastic, or dust collecting by leaving it uncovered. This keyboard is in our Living Room, and for now I'm somewhat obsessively throwing a towel over it every time after I turn it off because I don't want it to look the way the other one does. But doing this is a hassle, and counteracts the benefit of the fact that it is a very attractive keyboard for the Living Room! What say you?
  17. Rich, Those motion registrations are just phenomenal. Thank you for explaining how you did them during the session. I doubt I'll ever have the creativity to program like that, but I sure appreciate craftsmen like you who do! The bang for the buck of this keyboard is unprecedented, IMO. A library editor would be a REALLY great thing!
  18. Yeah, it would be nice if you could control the speed of the rotary speaker with the expression pedal while you are using the Hammond sounds. Using the knob requires a hand leaving the keyboard. I HIGHLY recommend getting an expression pedal though. ProLine makes a really good cheap one.
  19. Wow, thanks Joe! I was wondering this too. The metronome even can be set to have a bell accent on any time signature from 2 beat intervals to 9 beat intervals! On the down side, I strongly dislike that fold-out manual format. It seems more like a set of reference sheets than anything handy for learning how to use the instrument. Fortunately there is this forum and good YouTube tutorials from Casio and others.
